Carl Rook is mobbed after scoring

Angels drew 1-1 with Boreham Wood at Longmead this afternoon.

In a game where the home side had the majority of the possession, Tonbridge found it hard to break down the Boreham Wood defence and had to be content with a point. Long periods of assault on the visitor's goal proved fruitless with arguably the best effort coming from defender Scott Gooding's overhead kick which was tipped over by 'keeper Anstead.

It was in the 76th minute that the deadlock was broken. Anstead slipped badly as he took a goal kick and the ball rolled 20 yards forward straight to Carl Rook who strode forward with the ball and slotted home. Such was the lack of attacking play from the visitors that the home fans felt the single goal would be enough but, with just 2 mins left on the clock a hopeful ball forward found Ofori. His blocked shot then rolled to substitute Leon Archer who was suddenly in the clear, rounded Worgan and fired home the equaliser.

Ade Olorunda made a brief cameo on the right towards the end of the game as he returns from the broken foot sustained against Tooting & Mitcham.
Angels Online are still waiting to hear news of Lewis Hamilton who suffered a facial injury in an accidental collision with Worgan. The game was held up for a lengthy stoppage and paramedics were called. As soon as we learn anything it will be posted.

NO GAME TUESDAY. Due to FA Cup replays Tuesday night's visit to Ashford Town (Mx) has been switched to Saturday 1st November KO 3pm.

Saturday 18th October: Oh well - there is always next year!

Scott Gooding

John Westcott

The FA Trophy defeat at home to Ramsgate today means that The Angels have gone out of the both the main cup competitions at the first hurdle for the first time since 2003/4 season.

The recent hiccup in form continued when the Blues failed to capitalise on having the majority of chances in the 1st half to go down 3-2.

The first 45 saw several clear cut opportunities which included Carl Rook striking the post from a Lewis Hamilton cross and Leon Legge twice blazing over from close range following corners. On 48 mins Rook made amends by converting a penalty following a hand ball.

Even with Scott Gooding (who signed during the week) bolstering the back four it was Ramsgate who, fielding several ex-Angels in the side, equalised when Steffan Ball took advantage of hesitant defending to drive into the box and slot past Worgan. It was 2-1 to the Reds as another exile, Jay May, glanced home a long free kick.

The game was over in the 85th minute when Hadden polished of a slick passing move with a crisp strike into the top corner from 20 yds. There was still time for Tonbridge to pull a goal back when the Rams keeper comically punched into his own net when attempting to put it over the bar.

So it's back down here at Longmead next Saturday for another Ryman Prem league clash against Boreham Wood.

Tuesday 14th October: Angels suffer defeat to the Urchins

Leon Legge hits the post

The Angels suffered a 3-0 reversal at the hands of AFC Hornchurch tonight.

After conceding a soft goal from from a free header after just 6 mins, the Angels had the better of the first half and went closest when Leon Legge struck the post with a close range volley.

The game was littered with niggly fouls and, although it was hard to judge which way the referee would point after any half-challenge, there was no doubt as to the decision when Tim Oloruda's clumsy challenged felled an Urchin in the box. Despite Lee Worgan getting a hand to the spot kick the ball went in off the post. Hornchurch wrapped the game up when Lee was allowed to run past several Tonbridge players and rifle a superb shot in from 20 yards. In truth the out-fought, out-thought, Angels offered little in the second half and Tommy Warrilow will be expecting better from his players in this saturday's FA Trophy game at home to Ramsgate.

There are some rumours today that an ex-Angel is being once again linked to the club. Angels On-line will try and get an official statement.

Saturday, 11th October, 2008: Angels win 4-1 in Croydon Athletic friendly
Goals from Donovan, Storey, Westcott & Piscina saw the Angels win comfortably in their visit to Croydon Athletic.
This game, which filled a void in the fixture list caused by the scheduled opponents being active in the FA Cup, meant that the first team did not have to suffer a lengthy break whilst in good form.
Luke Piscina played a full 90 mins and there were no injuries to report.

This coming Tuesday evening the Angels travel to AFC Hornchurch in a Ryman Premier clash.
Saturday 4th October: Rook hits hat-trick as Angels thump Horsham 4-0

Carl Rook opens the scoring with a twice-taken penalty

Carl Rook silenced his recent critics by firing a 30 minute first half hat-trick against his old team.
In the second half Jamie Cade looping header over Sueke from ex-Hornet John Westcott's pin-point cross rounded off a fine win against Horsham
