Angels Reserves never recovered from a goal within the first fifteen minutes against a physically stronger Tooting side, the Angels had two good goalscoring opportunities before Tooting opened their account, firstly Dan Powell then Phil Cramp put shots wide of the post when one-on-one with the keeper.
Tooting's first goal came on 11 minutes Thomas out-muscling Alex McEwan before firing across the goal with the ball entering the net via the far post. Tooting dominated for long periods of the half, but it was not until a minute before half-time that the visitors doubled their lead, an intricate passing movement undid a static defence allowing Metwali to slide the ball past Goldsmith.
Tonbridge started the second half with a lot more verve and were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet early in the half as Tooting's goalkeeper was forced into a fine save from Phil Cramp. Richard Shaw replaced Ollie Miles and within minutes should have reduced the arrears, Manny Neville's thunderous free-kick found its way through the wall only to be parried by the keeper, Shaw's follow-up shot from some six yards out was brilliantly saved by the custodian.
With 12 minutes remaining Tooting clinched the three points, a disputed free-kick on the angle of the penalty area was deflected for a corner kick, the resulting kick was powerfully headed home by Thomas at the near post. Former Fulham & Gillingham academy player Jake Beecroft from the Under-16s came on for the last few minutes and showed some good touches.

Manager's Comments: "In the first half I thought we were poor, out-muscled, out-thought and out-played, the first 35 of the second half we showed a lot more desire and passion for the game. What we must not forget is that we could and should have been two up before they scored, then the effort from Richard which the keeper saved also proved crucial. Goals 1 & 3 came down to our lack of physical strength, also at the moment the average age of the team is around about 19 and will only get better."
