Angels Reserves can feel disappointed not to have returned from Saturday's game without at least a share of the points following their game against a good Tooting side.
The Angels should have taken the lead after a quarter of an hour, Kevin Carpenter's challenge on the keeper left the custodian injured and out of position as the ball fell to Phil Cramp with the goal at his mercy some 15 yards out, but somehow a home defender cleared the forwards effort off the line. Tonbridge were made to pay dearly for that miss as five minutes later the home side took the lead. A needless free kick was given away on the Angels left, the ball was played into the penalty area were the Tooting centre forward stooped low and unchallenged to head past Czanner and into the net despite Brock's efforts on the line. The Angels responded well with Miles shooting over when well placed and Cramp, Scutter and Carpenter having shots blocked or saved, Czanner saved brilliantly when one on one with a Tooting player and skipper Sim Johnson made a timely tackle to block an effort on goal.
The Angels got off to the worst possible start going further behind after two minutes of the restart, Cramp getting caught in possession ten yards in the opposition half saw the ball played through the visitors' defence for Tooting's centre-forward to grab his second goal.
Following that goal Tonbridge spent most of the second half camped in the Tooting half as chances game and went. But in their eagerness to get back into the game Angels were always vulnerable to the counter attack and this proved the case as Tooting added their third following a breakaway goal. The Angels continued to press and pulled a goal back after 73 minutes Ollie Miles 18-yard shot flew into the bottom corner of the net giving the keeper no chance. Tonbridge had further chances, Carpenter hitting the inside of the post and Scutter seeing his effort brilliantly saved, and another effort cleared off the line as Tooting hung on to take all three points.

Manager's Comments: "We gave away three poor goals, but then did enough to have picked up something from the game. Stringer was outstanding in midfield as was Johnson in defence, we had two or three players missing which gave others opportunities. It was also good to see Richard Shaw back playing and fit."
