Angels Reserves' dismal run continued on Saturday with a 3-0 home defeat to a lively Epsom side. The Angels' young side started brightly but lacked the killer instinct in front of goal against an inspired Epsom keeper, Carpenter and Scutter both having shots well saved. The visiting goalkeeper's handling throughout the game was impeccable as he dealt with any high ball with ease.
Tonbridge fell behind on the half hour to a classic sucker punch, Epsom breaking quickly following an Angels corner kick, Epsom's talented and pacey centre-forward out-streaked the home defence to lift the ball over Mark Ritson in the home goal.
The Angels huffed and puffed to the half time whistle but could not find the vital breakthrough, both Sinclair and Ollie Miles having shots that either went over or wide. Epsom could in fact have increased their lead as twice the visitors broke clear of the home defence but were unable to convert the chances.
Tonbridge had a couple of early chances at the start of the second half, Sim Johnson stabbing his shot just wide then making the keeper pull off a superb save from an eighteen yard volley. Epsom's second goal came 20 minutes into the half following an error of judgement by keeper Ritson, the keeper expecting the ball to go out of play allowed an Epsom player to hook the ball back across the goal for an easy tap in. Manny Neville came on for Scutter to add an aerial threat and was unlucky with his first touch of the ball, as the keeper scrambled the ball away. Epsom added the third goal in the dying embers of the game, John Sinclair sliced his clearance straight to an Epsom player who ran on and chipped the advancing Ritson.

Manager's Comments: "I think 3-0 did not bear a true reflection on the game, we had some good chances in front of goal but could not convert, then paid the price for three errors which all were finished clinically. Lee Kennett was superb and Matt Hollyoak had a good steady game considering the criticism he has received this week following last Tuesday's game."
