The visitors came into this game languishing in mid-table despite having the division's best defensive record, and having also appointed a new manager in midweek, Wayne Burnett replacing Martin Eede - but Tonbridge were pushed throughout and only a late goal from substitute Jay May finally sealed three valuable points in the promotion race.
With skipper Steve Aris starting from the bench, John Beales partnered Lew Watts in the centre of the Angels defence. Ray Powell filled the right-back spot, with Leroy Huggins returning for his first start in nearly two months alongside Jon Main up front.
Hamlet made a bright start, Mikhail Czanner making a couple of good saves early on. Wayne Cort shot over after some hesitant Angels defending as Tonbridge continued to look somewhat sluggish, only a Huggins effort well blocked by defender Gavin Dayes giving the home fans much to applaud.
The Angels lost "Razor" Powell with an ankle injury with just 12 minutes gone, but slowly began to get to grips with the game. Main ran clean through on Dulwich 'keeper Phil Seuke only to clip the ball well wide but the opening goal came on 27 minutes when Main got to a ball just ahead of Seuke inside the Dulwich box. The resulting collision sent the Angels striker crashing to the ground, Nick Barnes confidently slotting the resulting penalty.
Czanner saved from Cort again as Hamlet fought back. Burnett made his managerial debut a somewhat inauspicious one late in the first half, being banished from the dugout for remarks to an assistant referee.
The second half saw Tonbridge play more solid football, Dulwich being unable to create any real openings despite the tireless efforts of Kenny Beaney in midfield. Watts limped off to be replaced by Richard Ponsford, the impressive Danny Glozier moving to fill an unfamiliar right back position for the final 15 minutes - but the points were sealed with a couple of minutes to go when May bundled home Fraser Logan's inswinging cross after Seuke could only parry his initial header.
