Tonbridge went tumbling out of the Kent Senior Cup at the first hurdle at the hands of Premier Division side Folkestone Invicta. The Angels fielded a near full-strength side but were not strong enough to match their Kent rivals, a goal either side of the break being enough to put Invicta through to the Quarter Finals.
The visitors' best chance early on fell to Jimmy Dryden but his effort was headed away by an Angels defender, and as Folkestone began to take control they soon took the lead, scoring on 27 minutes. A short cross from the right was fumbled by Jerome John and Paul Jones pounced to convert. The goal sparked the Angels into action, Jay May having a shot saved before captain Steve Aris tried an overhead kick which Invicta's Kessell did well to save. Loan signing Loui Fazakerley then screwed a shot wide and Folkestone went into the break a goal ahead.
The visitors doubled their lead on the hour through the ex-Hastings midfielder Stuart Myall, and both sides relaxed as they looked forward to important league games at the weekend. Jay May provided the final incident of note of the evening, receiving a red card for an unnecessary elbow on a defender by the corner flag.
