The Angels produced a good performance against Hythe Town at the weekend, beating the Kent League outfit 3-0. Tony Dolby fielded a strong line up from the outset, adopting a midfield diamond with Dolby himself at the base with Ian Parkes and the hard working Danny Lye just in front allowing Nick Barnes a more creative midfield role.
From the first whistle the Angels looked in control. Tonbridge did have a scare on 15 minutes when Jason Brazier scored for Hythe following a right wing cross but his effort was ruled out when the referee spotted a foul on Mike Cramp. The Angels deservedly took the lead when the excellent Nick Barnes let fly from all of 30 yards, his effort clearly deceiving Holdway in the Hythe goal.
The Angels added their second after the interval, Tony Dolby combining with the industrious Luke Piscina to run through and produce a cool left foot finish. From that moment the game as a contest was well and truly over and the second half witnessed many Angels substitutions. Sim Johnson came on in the middle of defence and looked assured and Ollie Miles fitted into a central midfield role.
The final goal also came from Player Manager Tony Dolby. Nick Barnes was felled just outside the Hythe penalty area and Dolby stepped up to curl the ball left footed over the wall and into the net. All in all a good workout for Tonbridge where they looked defensively tight and organised all over the pitch.
