Following Tuesday evening’s highly impressive 3-0 victory away at Whyteleafe, Tony Dolby and his men welcome lowly Molesey to Longmead on April Fool’s Day. The two sides have previously met on four occasions, each winning a game apiece and two draws. Back in October, the Angels visited The Herds Renault Stadium and were unfortunate to come away with just the single point after Leroy Huggins’ header was cancelled out in injury time by Matt Ottley.
Our visitors travelled to Bashley in midweek and were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline. Phil Ruggles maintained his status as the league’s leading goalscorer by scoring the only goal of the evening for ‘The Moles.’ The Surrey outfit currently sit down 16th position, having won just 10 of their 39 games to date and look set for a mid-table finish this campaign. They’ve recently bounced back from a disastrous run of form, losing eight games on the spin, by outclassing Newport IOW, Walton Casuals and surprisingly, Metropolitan Police. However, their away form leaves a lot to be desired, picking up only four victories all season on their travels and conceding a massive 42 in the process.
STAR MAN: Phil Ruggles - Prolific striker who started with Woking before loan spells at Hendon, Carshalton Athletic and Leatherhead. Settling at the Tanners, Phil scored over 50 goals in two seasons before being picked up by Worthing in the summer of 2004. Despite the goals continuing to flow, the commuting soon took its toll and former Woking team-mate Scott Steele stepped in to bring him to Kingstonian three months later. Switched to Molesey where he had a previous loan spell, in the summer of 2005. Currently Ryman Division One’s leading goalscorer with 28 goals.
