Saturday, 27 August, 2005: Hornets despatched from Cup after 3-1 win
Tonbridge eased themselves into the First Qualifying Round after a 3-1 win over Horsham at Longmead Stadium. Debutant Lee Carey, Leroy Huggins and Tony Dolby (penalty) were the scorers.

In the next round the Angels face a trip to the coast to play Hastings United. Tonbridge won the last game between the two sides 2-1 back in April 2004 and the pair last contested an FA Cup tie in 1994, the Sussex side victorious after a replay in the 2nd Qualifying Round.

On Monday the Angels entertain Ramsgate in the Ryman League Division One, 3.00pm kick-off. Ramsgate have won their first two league games and also won their FA Cup tie at Merstham convincingly yesterday, so will be in top form going into the Longmead Stadium clash. A tough and entertaining game is in prospect.

Friday, 26 August, 2005: Carey signs from Seagulls
The connection between the Angels and Brighton & Hove Albion's academy side is beginning to bear fruit with the signing of midfielder Lee Carey today. The youngster will be in the squad to face Horsham tomorrow.

Jay May will be unavailable tomorrow and will not feature in the squad, while Darren Smith and Mike Cramp are continued absentees although it is hoped Smith can make a return in time for the Dulwich game next Saturday.

Sunday, 21 August, 2005: Angels snatch draw with injury-time leveller
The Angels yesterday avoided a disastrous start to the season with a fortunate equaliser in injury time. Fleet Town, traditionally a bogey side at Longmead Stadium, looked set to take home all three points until Jay May scored with 94 minutes on the clock.

The Reserve side got off to a great start to their season by beating Chipstead 4-0. Phil Cramp and John Sinclair both scored a brace and you can read the match report here or visit the Reserves page.

Sunday, 14 August, 2005: Another defeat completes mixed pre-season
Tonbridge completed a mixed bag of pre-season results with a fourth consecutive defeat at East Thurrock United yesterday. Some varying results and performances mean the expectation for the squad this season is unclear with wins against top opposition such as Sutton United and Eastbourne Borough being undermined by a run of defeats towards the end of the packed schedule. It's worth remembering that all four games this week were against higher-ranked opponents and manager Tony Dolby will be expecting three points from the first game against Fleet Town next Saturday, a side that have traditionally fared well at Longmead Stadium in the past.

Wednesday, 10 August, 2005: Angels beaten by Premier Division Bromley
Tonbridge lost 2-0 last night in their latest friendly at Bromley. Goals from Allan McLeod and Barry Gardner were enough to see off the Angels. Bromley featured ex-Angels Andy Walker, Nic McDonnell and Wade Falana in their line-up.

Meanwhile Mike Cramp has been ruled out for up to six weeks after picking up an injury at Folkestone on Saturday, but no news of Darren Smith as yet. Jon Heath has also picked up a knock but hopes to recover in time for this Saturday's trip to East Thurrock, as the high number of friendlies this summer start to take their toll on the injury list.
