Sunday, 31 July, 2005: Angels Online celebrating 25 Years at Longmead Stadium
Thursday 18th August is the 25th anniversary of the first ever match at Longmead Stadium. So throughout August Angels Online is celebrating the milestone!  Sunday, 31 July, 2005: Tonbridge overcome poor display to beat Wells 2-1
Tonbridge lifted the Courier Cup once again at Culverden Stadium yesterday, winning by two goals to one. It was a dire display from the Angels who can consider themselves lucky to take the trophy home. Dave Hassett put Tunbridge Wells a goal ahead after six minutes but John Beales' leveller on 11 minutes and Warren Haughton's winner in injury time were enough to seal the victory.

Friday, 29 July, 2005: Fisher run the show at Longmead; Angels lose 4-1
Ryman League Premier Division side Fisher Athletic were in fine form at Longmead Stadium as they trounced the Angels 4-1. The home side performed well but could not cope with the class of players such as ex-Angel Hamid Barr. Substitute Ollie Miles scored the Angels' goal with a well-taken header.

Wednesday, 27 July, 2005: Angels launch new away kit for 2005/06 season
Cast your eyes over the new away shirt for the coming season. The new red and black shirt, sponsored by Club Sponsor Betterview Windows and Conservatories, replaces the white John Smith's shirt launched last season, which we believe is to be the new third kit if required.

The kit made its 'debut' at Seven-oaks on Saturday and is the first red change strip for some six years, when red was the change colour for most of the 1990s.

In other news a twelfth friendly has been added to the already crowded pre-season schedule. Eastbourne Borough will visit Longmead Stadium next Wednesday, 3 August. Please note kick-off will be at the earlier time of 7.30pm.

Tuesday, 26 July, 2005: Midfielder Smith joins club from Eastbourne
The Angels have today signed Darren Smith from Eastbourne Borough. The 27 year-old midfielder will play in tonight's friendly against Aveley. His profile on Borough's website reads as follows:

"Darren began his career with Sittingbourne before moving to Gravesend & Northfleet, with whom he spent the 1998/99 season. He then returned to Central Park before rejoining Gravesend in March 2000. He was a regular at Stonebridge Road, and a member of Andy Ford's Ryman Premier championship-winning side, playing against Sports in the FA Cup. Darren signed for Sittingbourne for a third time prior to the 2003/04 season but joined Burgess Hill Town in January 2004. Made debut for Borough at Maidenhead on 23 October 2004."

Saturday, 23 July, 2005: One win and one defeat in double-header
The majority of the first-team travelled to Hythe today where the Angels were 3-0 winners. Nick Barnes opened the scoring with a 25-yard effort while Tony Dolby chipped in with a brace. At Sevenoaks a mixture of first-team and reserves players were beaten 1-0, former Angel Dave Forster scoring the deciding goal with a 25th minute header.

Sunday, 17 July, 2005: Haughton signs for Tonbridge / Street off to Heybridge
Former Woking, Tamworth and Lewes striker Warren Haughton has signed for Tonbridge Angels. The much-travelled 31-year old has an impressive goalscoring record and spent the second half of last season at Barking & East Ham United scoring 16 goals. Haughton has also had spells with Leicester City, Stourbridge, VS Rugby, Stafford Rangers, Sutton Coldfield Town, Havant & Waterlooville and Dulwich Hamlet.

Meanwhile Gareth Street has left the club to sign for Heybridge Swifts. Street joined from Chelmsford City last season after the departure of Sam Tydeman and he struggled to fill the gap and hold his place in the side. After 17 starts in 2004/05 Gareth links up with his former youth-team coach at Chelmsford Barry Lakin, now a coach with Swifts.

Thursday, 14 July, 2005: Ryman League fixtures announced; Angels land Fleet first
Fleet Town will visit Longmead on 20 August after the Ryman League announced the long-awaited fixture list for 2005/06. It is the third time in four seasons that the clubs have met on the opening day.

The first away trip is on Tuesday, 23 August with the Angels visiting Banstead Athletic for only the second-ever meeting between the two sides. After the cup match with Horsham, Ramsgate are the visitors on August Bank Holiday while Tonbridge host Cray Wanderers on Boxing Day.

Sunday, 10 July, 2005: Sutton preview added / Reserves add to friendly schedule
The match preview for Tuesday night's Sutton United friendly is completed and can be found by clicking the link to the right of this page.

Meanwhile the Reserves have added to their schedule of friendlies for the summer and you can see them by clicking this link.

Sunday, 3 July, 2005: Fisher friendly back on?
According to the Fisher Athletic website we are still to face the side in a friendly this summer. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday 19th July but we are playing Margate that night, and Fisher's forum claims the match has been rescheduled for Thursday, 28 July.

Surprised by the continued confusion I called our secretary Charlie Cole who confirmed that the game is pencilled in for that date but has not been officially confirmed as yet. Should the match go ahead that will be ten friendlies for the first team this summer which surely must be some sort of record for the club in recent years.

Friday, 1 July, 2005: Angels draw Horsham and Cheshunt in cups
Horsham are the visitors to Longmead Stadium on Saturday, 27 August as the Angels were drawn at home in the first stage of the FA Cup for the sixth year in succession. The two sides are both in the Ryman Division One this season and have met before in the FA Cup. In 2001 Horsham won 2-0 in the 1st Qualifying Round in a controversial match with both sides having two players sent off. Before that the two clubs met in the Preliminary Round in August 1985 with the Angels winning 3-1, the goals coming from Churchill, Blewden and Hardwick.

If Tonbridge succeed they will visit one of three teams, East Grinstead, VCD Athletic or Hastings United in the 1st Qualifying Round on 10 September.

In the FA Trophy the Angels are also at home entertaining Cheshunt of the Southern League Premier Division, of course Cheshunt scraped to survival last season by virtue of Hornchurch's demise, finishing one place above the Angels in the Isthmian Premier Division after a 6-1 win at Longmead and a draw in the return fixture. The winners will entertain either Hampton & Richmond or Newport IOW.

Finally the Under 18s have been drawn away to Ramsgate in the FA Youth Cup 1st Qualifying Round, ties in that round are to be played week commencing 26 September.
