Dunstable Town Res 0 Tonbridge Angels Res 2
HEATH AND DANN SEE OFF DUNSTABLE
Angels Reserves made the long trip to Dunstable and returned with all three points in this Suburban Premier League encounter which takes us up to 4th in the league.
In tough windy conditions against a strong Dunstable side this was never going to be an easy fixture and a late tackle after 5 minutes on Jon Heath proved that point, earning the Dunstable forward a yellow card.
The conditions made it hard to play our usual fluent football and to reach half time all square against the wind would have been acceptable but fortunately Mike Cramp sent a deep free kick into the box, which was met by Heath’s header across the area, and this was returned by Ashley Dann. Heath then struck a powerful shot off the post into the net to make it 1-0 at the break.
Alwayne Jones was replaced on 65 minutes by Bobby Dixey, which brought new life into the attack.
The move of the match resulted in Angels second goal on 69 minutes when a Michael Smith pass split the Dunstable defence, the ball found Dixey on the left flank and he skilfully beat the Dunstable defender and squared to Dann who struck a sweet low drive from the edge of the box into the bottom right corner of the net.
Heath received a yellow card for a late challenge on 71 minutes.
Dixey was unlucky on 73 minutes when he forced the Dunstable keeper into a good save.
Sonny Miles received a yellow for dissent and was replaced by Dominic Weston on 76 minutes. Charlie Sharman replaced Heath on 83 minutes and was unlucky 5 minutes later again making the Dunstable keeper save well.
A hard working, well earned victory, skipper Mike Cramp and Paul Butler excelled at the back to keep the Dunstable attack from any real effort on Martin Grant’s goal. Jon Heath also had a fine game as he continues his comeback from long term injury.
Team: Grant, Butler, Cramp (Capt), DeMaertelaere, Burgess, Miles (Weston 76), Smith, Heath (Sharman 83), Kinnear, Dann, Jones (Dixey 65) Subs: Crane, Collins Goals: Heath 40, Dann 69 Cautions: Heath 71, Miles 74 (Yellow)
