Interesting but why put a newly qualified 16 year old referee in charge of what seem to be the two top teams in the League?

Why are CHILDREN allowed to play or referee in adult football at all?

I think you'll find he was the 4th official so was working under the guidance of an older ref to gain experience. Sadly this type of behaviour will utlimately result in an acute shortage of officials who give up their spare time for the love of the game. My son qualified as a ref when he was 15 and now at the age of 18 has given up because of the constant abuse and threats from the parents of the children he was in charge of. When my son played football I spent 5 seasons as volunteer linesman and was, on many occasions, subjected to verbal and in one case physical abuse. I once had to attend an FA disciplinary hearing when parents of one team were threatened by officials of another team. Quite why so many people give up their spare time to officiate at local football is beyond me.

So when you're there yelling at the ref or linesman that he is a w@anker or a cheat just remember that he's human, he once spent his weekends driving around the countryside for expenses to make sure local games went ahead and that occasionally he makes mistakes.

Fourth official? In a local game. What sort of talk is this? Half the games round here don't have one official let alone four.

Mistakes there will be a-plenty at Pippin Road, East Peckham this Sunday morning, as I am refereeing Tonbridge Casuals v Brenchley Reserves.

The Sunday League is short of referees. As I am here I volunteered my services.

I shall report in this forum on the level of respect, provided I don't have a heart attack during proceedings.

I actually did enjoy refereeing most of the time when I did it regularly. Most of the players appreciated having a neutral and qualified referee (no matter how bad) in charge of the game. They said it was better than the biased so-and-so who would be doing it otherwise!

There are small number of players who never foul anyone, are never offside and never abuse the opponent, the linesman or the ref. The KCFA has their names.

Someone asked me once, on a particularly foul morning at Hadlow I think it was, what do you do this for ref? £25 I said. Off he went,  muttering about match fees!

Well me Gazza Florida Angel JP_Angel etc all play for Tonbridge Casuals and Dans the manager so dont think your getting an easy game now Sunday  knuppel2 crazy2 Evil

As for the "lists" the KCFA have. It best be noted that last week when i was clean through one on one and the keeper came sliding through me I stayed on my feet despite being off balance in attempt to carry on and try and score.

Two seconds later i had gazza screaming at me asking why i didnt go down and get the keeper sent off  crazy2

Why are CHILDREN allowed to play or referee in adult football at all?

Because half the time theyre better because they spend most of their time playing/watching/learning about football.

Guarentee more CHILDREN know the actual football rules than adults.

Also it dpeends what age you say they turn into adults... most 16 year olds and over now are just as big and strong as adults and can handle the challenges etc.

Read the caption under the picture of the poor sod being carted off to hospital but as I see you claim to be a ref yourself then it's odds on you need your eyes testing  Smiley
