Starkey and Glover are both on contract until the end of the 2008-09 season.

I would be interested to know how many players we have on contract, especially those who could be considered "decent, but not exceptional". Should some real quality become available during the season it would be handy to be able to release players from the budget without the financial handcuffs. For me the key players that should be contracted are Worgan, Legge, Westcott, Logan and perhaps Cade. If any other contracted players get injured...  Embarrassed

Just my tuppence-worth, anyway. Personally the priority above keeping Beales would be getting a decent right-back in, as without Razor we simply don't have one.

gotta agree there. Putting Starkey on a contract from virtually the day he joined never made sense to me. he has a lot to prove and the last few games he played didnt convince me he is the solution...whereas Razor was.

Glover -jury is out as he hasnt had chance to show what he can do really however whenever he played he looked more than decent PLUS he is versatile -can play in defence midfield or up front so maybe he is our 4th striker ??

Heard Stuart Myall has been training so maybe he is in Tommys thoughts for the RB position in which case Wilfort may go. IF JB gets fit and IF he wants to stay we would be mad to let him go.

One other person to consider is Luke. if he gets fit and gets his head into the right zone he would be great cover for Westie and again can play up front.

Maybe some people are going to have to settle for lower wages Huh?

Personally for me JB is a must, a top form Luke ditto. Myall And Wilf may be 'luxuries' . The rest we are stuck with for the season.

As Dan says what happens if a quality player suddenly comes along Huh?

I also agree about Jay May.ask Gazza it really tees him off. Dolby was a f*****g idiot not to hang onto him -cant even remember who he kept instead (and dont say Jonny Main) oh yea Andy Martin and Mike Power............................tosser (Dolby not HMHs main man)

realistically jay may put away about 1 in 50, and then you are stuck in the situation where you need goals now, so what do you do
hang on for 3 years in the hope he'll fulfil a bit of that potential
keep playing him while he doesn't score,
stick him in the reserves so he leaves on his own
hold his hand at a financial burden to the club , and tuck him in at night
i would be very surprised if he lasts a season at bromley

I reckon wer'e up to about 11 on contract now although this is only an educated guess and I stress I have no inside info on this but I can't agree regarding Phil Starkey who had just started playing well when the thug from Maidstone tried to break his leg. He had only one full game after that against Carshalton where every player was crap so I can't see how we can criticise the decision to put him on a contract.
Tommy obviously thinks he can do the business and the events of last season do suggest that we should take his word and i speak as one who was not 100% convinced about the change of manager at the time.
I am now fully converted and am confident that the players we have in the squad are well capable of getting promotion and any players Tommy has not signed at this time will have to work really hard to get into the starting 11 so unless there is a marked improvement in Luke's form I doubt if he will figure.

starkey played pretty poorly in the reserves, but i guess he's got pre season to sort himself out, and if he's not doing a job by october , tommy can get rid of him

It would be great to resign beales.this has to be a must if he is fit..

other point on jay may from above, what quality did he show then ,i know he was only 18,no pace, only had aggression, all gangley and all other the place.

I know he scored a few for the darts, but i'd be more impressed if that was ryman south rater than the north . Brendon runs his legs off up there, mays a target man, hoof it up to may...i don't think Bromley play like that.
