I don't think it's necessary , but maybe Nick or Gary could make a statement concerning certain price rises so as to stop all the bickering on this forum and clear up any misunderstandings! ...But then again maybe we could all grow up a little!!!

Well, I have happily browsed this forum for about four years now without feeling the need to contribute but after the comments on here over the last week or so I've suddenly felt the need to have my say!
I can't believe that both supporters and the chairman are turning round and saying to people that they can put up with the price rises or not bother going. It's worth bearing in mind that the people who contribute to this site form the hardcore of support. I'll turn up next season and I'll pay a tenner to get in, even if it's a league cup tie against some god forsaken place in Essex. I even think that the price rise is reasonable considering prices haven't gone up for a few seasons. But please bear in mind that there are plenty of part-time or floating supporters who may take cost into account when deciding whether to bother or not. If the club has to rely on only it's hardcore it will always survive but it will never progress.
I was shocked to read Nick's comments in the Courier. No chairman of any club should ever say that supporters shouldn't bother turning up if they don't like what's on offer because there is nothing more likely to deter people. A piece with the chairman in the local paper should surely be used to encourage new support, not offend sections of the existing fan base.
The efforts that the board have taken to improve facilities in recent years are unprecendented and have my 100% support. But before then the facilties were often amongst the worst in the Southern League. Installing 600 seats in the stand is great and prepares us for Conference South if it ever happens but charging extra to sit there on top of a 25% increase at the turnstyle seems unfair. The extra money that will be made is minimal and will actually deter people from using the facilites. It seems very likely that we'll have 600 seats next season but less people using them than when we had only 200! Not charging extra for seating would seem to be reasonable in terms of rewarding supporters who for many years had to put up with very poor facilities. And let's be honest, succes is not going to depend upon a few people paying a pound to sit down each week. I know every litte helps and all that but a good relationship with current fan base and every potential new supporter will be worth a lot more long term.

Damn! I thought i'd managed to skip over that bit!
I think his comments were borne from the frustration of constant critism on here. Not the best choice of words, but i think aimed at the people that like to moan for moanings sake rather than the supporters who through disability and hardship will generally find the increases hard hitting.
*EDIT*
Oh crikey! I've only just noticed there is another thread on here regarding the comments in the Courier.
This is a Fans Forum. It is a place for fans to let of steam, have a bit of banter or just be bloody minded if we want to. It's a place for varied opinions. Not always right and not always wrong. You'll never get everyone in total harmony as we all see things from different perspectives.
I think Management, players, and Board Members shouldnt read Fans Forums. The amount of people that post on here are a minority of the TAFC support. They (the Club) should go about thier business and just get on with it. Ultimately they make the decisions. They are football people aswell as having to manage the books (at our club). I think both sides have the same aims but they make it happen, we cant. They know the risks of alienation regarding price hikes, but we have to trust them to make the right decisions for the benefit of all. There is nothing we can do about it. If anyone has a better solution i'd like to hear it.
