Todays comments from Nick Sullivan have left a very sour taste in my mouth.
I have jst re-read the thread regarding seating prices so that I've got the facts straight.
To me it appears that there are only 5 or 6 forum users who objected to the idea of paying to sit; myself, jammy, dan, ali-p and Daryl.
Which of these are the mindless idiots referred to?
Which of these moan for the sake of it?
What we tried to start was an open debate about the reasons for charging and suggestions as to alternative ways of raising funds or allowing entrance to the stand. I thought the comments were well expressed and restrained.
On the whole, with the exception of Dan who has been a member since day one the users listed above have relatively few posts between them and are only moved to post when they have a reasoned point which they wish to make. These are not the users who fill the forums with posts containing abusive language, one smiley, or personal insults to other users.
I have 2 simple questions which I would like to be answered.
1. Does Nick actually read the forum personally or does he rely on information to be passed to him?
2. Has he been misquoted?

I do so hope Nick has been mis-quoted or commented on mis-information otherwise we have a Chairman who is being insulting to his own fans for just giving their opinion in a civilised way. I believe myself and the others were not "moaning" about the increase in admission charges but the fact we intend to charge extra for people to sit down. Perhaps I'm a more hospitable person than some but I find it grating to charge people for a seat. I understand we have to have extra seating to meet ground requirements but funding for this should fall on all the fans. I helped to raise money for the covered areas behind the goals ( I don't ever stand behind the goals, I just don't like to watch the game from that angle) because I knew it would enhance our ground. If people are going to use the argument you should pay for the privilege of sitting down then perhaps we should all be charged extra for Tues night games for the floodlights!

Nothing to do with it Andy T.
Nick is browned off with it all.
Simple fact is that a group of people have stumped up the cash to do the work and as we live in a capitalist society that is the end of the matter. They and only they will decide.
We can argue all we like but until these sorts of developments are financed by local authorities ( Italy is an example ) it is a fact that we will have to bite the bullet if we wish to sit down, if the sponsors say so.
The one saving grace is that any organisation operating in this country is required, by law, to observe the conditions of the Disability Discrimination Act which makes provision for those who cannot stand for lengthy periods of time so this will protect those who are affected.
My only comment on this matter is that if Gary, Nick and others had not put up the cash , would any of those critical of the plan have done so themselves?
We all know that if we were at that board meeting and evidence was produced that suggested financing the seats would be good for the club overall we would have probably agreed the policy.
And by the way I am a devout Socialist so have no political interest whatsoever.
