An Ian Brooke volley was enough to earn Angels U18 a victory tonight away to Carshalton Atheltic in the Ryman Youth League.
The goal came in the 15th minute when neat play between Alex Daly and Brooke resulted in Ashley Dann laying the ball back to Brooke who finished clinically with a volley from the edge of the box.
Carshalton were awarded a penalty on 30 minutes when Will Jagger was adjudged to have deliberately handled in the box, a bit harsh when the ball struck his arm from a yard. The resulting penalty missed the target.
We continued to press in the second half, Elliot Harland came on in the 60th minute for Ashley Dann and was unlucky not to score.
Ed Willoughby replaced Adam Humphreys on 63 and young Nick Hollyoak replaced Karl Lucas on 75 mintes. All three subs did well when they came on and Lucas and Humphreys were both unlucky to come off having both played well.
Skipper Nich Rich led by example and Will Jagger and Jon Hampson looked solid in defence.
Good for the boys to get back to winning ways and this will give them the confidence to take on Staines away on Wednesday night.
Team: Busby, Rich, Hampson, Jagger, Lucas (Hollyoak 75), Daly, Brooke, Poynter, Humphreys (Willoughby 63), Dann (Harland 60), Sharman
Goal: Ian Brooke 15

Well done lads. A good all round display. Good to get a clean sheet on a pitch that had a very end of season look about it! Dry, hard, bumpy, uncut, not condusive to playing nice football.
Having said that, we did try to play some football and it was a good contest with both sides battling to the end. Had our bit of luck second half when their striker clipped the post, but I felt over 90 minutes it was well deserved.
Great battle between Nick and their "step over" wide left player. Clearly the lad has been watching the Ronaldo video! Fantastically quick feet, but far too often no end product. Nick excelled at right back. Again good to see the KYL boys coming in and playing their part. Have been impressed with them.
