Shambolic performance last night.  Capello said after that he thought we played well, if this is what he calls playing well it's going to take a very poor performance indeed for him to change anything.

Owen is no longer the threat up front that he once was, his injuries have all but killed off any pace he had in the past.  Time to give someone else a go.

The only players who showed me anything good were Beckham and Hargreaves.

It was a largely uninspiring performance last night from England. We saw alot of the ball in the first half and the passing and tempo was spot on up until the penalty decision (which I still don't think was a pen!). After that, we were running around like headless chickens to be honest. The last 60 minutes was nothing to be happy about Fabio. Roll Eyes

Ashley Cole really was very poor, got me thinking to who else can replace him... Bridge? No thanks, not after that Croatia game.
Lescott? More of a centre-back IMO.
Barry? Not been playing there for his club.
After that you're struggling really...

Hargreaves impressed me, the only one who really looked as if he was up for it. I actually felt really sorry for Michael Owen, injuries have just totally destroyed him, nowhere near the player he once was.

Still, only a meaningless friendly... 2funny

Didn't see the game - do you reckon we'd still beat teams like Andorra in the World Cup qualifiers if we played that poorly?

I must be the only one not massively over-reacting to last night's friendly - we lost 1-0 to France, one of the best two sides in Europe - I'll happily take that! Not concerned about the performance  - Capello has had two and a half days total to try and teach these players how to pass a football, it'll take a lot longer than that to sort it out.

The sooner our deluded fans stop believing we are a top side the easier it will be to improve, IMO - we are outside the top 16 European countries on merit, which is why our players will be kicking their heels in June.

...that's part of the reason i'm peed-off about last's performance and result.... because France were poor, certainly nowhere near one of the bets two sides in Europe! Huh
