Angels entertained Colliers Wood in the first game of the SFL Challenge Shield winning 5-2. Danny Powell opened the scoring with an 18 yard wonder goal just before half time giving the Wood keeper no chance. We were always a threat to their defence with Mickey Collins, Razor and Danny Powell up front. The second half started just as dramatically when Matt Newman volleyed in another great goal, this followed in quick succession with our third when a Mickey Collins solo run in the box ended with him placing the ball in the far corner. Unfortunately a lack of concentration gave Wood their opening goal but we soon got our fourth when Collins finished of a neat pass from Danny Powell. Mickey Collins completed his hatrick when a brilliant run and cross from Matt Cornhill on the right found Collins in the box who finished clinically to make it 5-1. Colliers Wood scored their second with a good strike outside the box giving Martin Grant no chance. Ashley Dann and Matt Crane also went close on a good nights work from all the team and an enterataining match. Team: Grant, Johnson, Crane, Bowles, Ashmore, Cole, Newman, Rich, A (Brock), Powell, D, Powell, R (Cornhill), Collins (Dann) Subs: Dix, Sharman

As the report says there was some delightful football played and five good goals, Mickey Collins was one of many good players last night, Razor had a good first 45 mins, did the first half, as did Danny Powell and Matt Newman also impressed in the centre of midfield. Young Matt Cornhill also ran their defence ragged when he came on in the second half for Razor, especially the run and cross that set up Mickey Collins hatrick.

Having watched the ressies last night and recent 1st team games I am amazed that Mickey Collins has not been given more that 25 mins against Carshalton recently. His performance last night was the best "all round" Ihave seen for the club for a very long time. Not only did he give the youngsters a lesson in finishing but his runs, distribution , tracking back and pace were an example to all, and show that he is more than just a veteran finishing out his days. When will Wallilow realise that although he may not be able to offer 90 mins he is perfect for the last 45 when defenders are struggling.
