Interestingly, I was talking to a Dons supporter after the game.  He was impressed that we had signed Carl Rook.  He added that they had tried to get him at Wimbledon, but he wouldn't go.  May not be true of course.

We did try and sign Carl Rook once - when he was at Hastings (and we were in Ryman Division One and managed by Dave Anderson). We apparently offered the proceeds of two pre-season friendlies in lieu of a transfer fee but Hastings turned it down. (We'd already successfully used this type of offer to sign Richard Butler from Ashford Town (Middx) earlier in the same season 2004/5).

Rook strikes me as a bit of a selfish, money-chaser TBH...........

I am sure things will be ok with rookie and the other new boys.
Does it come as a suprise that hamid has left the club - its his forte

StealthAngel, Tommy didn't want him. Hamid left because he was told he was going to be on the bench most weeks - let's not slur the guy for no reason eh?

As has been said the only one here with egg on his face is TW yet again.  Apparently Harris will shortly be unveiled as the new Newcastle No 2 !

hamid is a moody player who can be inspired and brilliant but is mostly not much of a team player , he is probably on the bench because of this and has now got the sulks - so goodbye

A post based entirely on assumption and devoid of any facts! I would associate "not much of a team player" with someone who holds on to the ball too long or has an attitude problem, attributes which certainly didn't apply to Hamid who was always looking for the clever pass (which fair enough didn't always come off, but at least we had someone with the imagination to try it).

His departure had nothing to do with having "the sulks" as I have already pointed out so try and get your facts right before posting rubbish!

its no good having 'imagination'  if the rest of the team are not with it. thats what I am trying to say I suppose. I,ll leave it there - you win my dear

i agree with stealthangel, hamid was always looking to play the complicated ball when a much simpler pass would have been better.  the majority of our players had been used to playing long ball football in the jon main era and it takes time to adjust to a more flamboyant style of play, hamid was perhaps ahead of his teammates in this department.

So we're now saying he was too good for the team, and had to go?  Well there's ambition.  crazy2

If none of the man utd players could cope with ronaldo's style of play he would be out, it's the same with hamid.

you can't build a team around one player's strengths, we found that out with jon main.

the fact of it all is we weren't winning the bread and butter games when hamid played recently, and he only stepped up his performance for the "big" games against oxford.
