I'm really surprised by it. My gut feeling is that Keegan is in a no-win situation, his previous Newcastle spell was heavily bankrolled in the early Premier League days before the "big four" really emerged, and a return to the "glory days" is extremely unlikely.

I really hope he brings them a trophy and European place but he is surely up against it. How long before the fans lose patience?

Rather than Wise & Keegan he should get the real Krankies to do the job, they couldn't do any worse and are only in semi-retirement whereas Keegan was fully retired.
