Angels Online Fans' Forum: Bans
« on: Sunday, 11 September, 2005, 18:27.43 »

BANS ON INDIVIDUALS FROM ANGELS ONLINE FANS' FORUM (AOFF).

The administration of the AOFF has this week decided to ban the two Forum Members 'mikeide' and 'Gazza' from the AOFF indefinitely. This decision was taken alone by the Forum Administrator 'Dan' and has been discussed and agreed with the rest of the Administration Team, 'CkB' and 'jsamuel'. It has long been felt that these two FMs are a detrimental contribution to the forum community as a whole, and after a prolonged consideration the decision to enforce full bans has now been taken. This stretches back over a long period of time going back to the previous forum software, on March 6th 2005 when the first bans were enforced on the pair.

Despite two more bans taking place on the old forum for rule-breaking regarding website advertising, after discussions about behaviour the decision was taken to wipe the slate clean and remove the bans for the new forum's installation on June 26th.

In the two-and-a-half months since that date, numerous attempts have been made to curb the breaking of rules, trouble-making and attempts at anarchy on the AOFF by these two members to no avail. In the case of the FM 'mikeide' numerous warnings have been sent to the FM and in some cases have been met with abuse, insults and a reluctance to adhere to the rules as set out in the Registration Agreement. Along with this various postings on the AOFF from both members have had to be removed.

The AOFF Admin Team appreciate that some of the warnings have been met with an appeared genuine wish to calm down, but on every occasion the two FMs have slipped back into the familiar detrimental and disruptive behaviour. It has been suggested privately by several other quieter FMs that they feel unable to openly post as often as they would wish due to the nature of the responses from these two FMs. This suggestion has so far appeared to ring true as the forum has enjoyed a much wider range of contributions and opinions from a a greater number of FMs in the recent few days.  Some of these FMs have been noticeably quiet until recently, which has given us a strong impression of the result of these bans.  Some of these FMs have personally commented on this to the Administration Team.

It is felt this cycle of behaviour, from disruption to apologies to disruption again, cannot continue, and therefore the two FMs will remain banned indefinitely. The administrators' decision will remain final.  These former FMs have been advised how to destroy their logon tickets to enable them to continue viewing the site as guests.

In addition, one of the two FMs has attempted to re-register under a different name in an effort to 'fool' the Administrators, not allowed in the Registration Agreement, and this action has been noted.  It should be noted that if this continues to occur, we will install IP bans, which may affect one or two other members viewing, which we are very keen to avoid.

The AOFF reminds the two members that the forum is an independent community for supporters, outside the jurisdiction of Tonbridge Angels Football Club.

Regards,
Angels Online Fans' Forum Admin.
