Perhaps you should be writing this book.

Your memoirs would be one hell of a read!

I found this category very difficult  - some really classy left backs.  Finally voted for Clay Shield - brilliant defender and equally good going forward.  Also very close run (IMHO!) with Clive Cooper, Lenny Prince, Gordon Hancock .... so many.

Mark Gillham was a superb player, but left back not his best position.   Really a central defender or, in his early years at Tonbridge, a very good forward.

A much better split in this poll which is good to see. Gillham will no doubt feature in more polls if he doesn't win this one, considering his versatility over the years.

None of em could get near Peter Lovell.

Real wide boy in all senses of the word but a high quality left back that only the longest serving supporters will remember.

Played in the early 60's along side Gerry Francis, Geoff Truett,John Kilford and co and was also known for some dodgy dealing.

Police once chased and stopped the coach on an away trip arresting him and taking him away.

Knowing Peter I seem to recall he got to the ground in time for kick off.

Sounds like a great character.  Unfortunately my time watching Tonbridge stretches back as far as Dave Waters in the left back spot.

Is "our" Vic Akers the man who is now the coach of the England women's team?
