Hey Baby! I'm parkin' my van somewhere else now!

The Southern Youth League team lost last night to a Whyteleafe team that were probably a shade too quick and more decisive. Angels were missing Hollyoak, Cramp and Parkes who had all played the previous evening in the Westview cup match. A scoreless 1st half contained good attacking moves on both sides with James Morgan looking dangerous for Anfels and the Whyteleafe forwards quick on the break. This was the difference, Whyteleafe were very quick to counter attack and used pace on the wings to create dangerous attacks which Angels defence did well to cope with. Once again the team were well marshalled by Scott McEwen and it was interesting to notice the communication between captain and coach throughout the game where problems and tactics could be quickley identified and remedied.
In the 2nd half Whyteleafe began to take the upper hand and It appeared that Angels were beginning to stand off from challenge, thus giving Whyteleafe more time on the ball, although Angels had worked hard and may have been feeling the effects of constant effort. Goals in the 50th, 60th and 80th minutes killed the game but a penalty converted by Adam O'Neill in 88 mins and a last minute strike froma a fine angle by Dean Spenceley added respectability to the scoreline which is nothing less than Angels deserved for their unstinting efforts. On another night the result would surely have gone Tonbridge's way. Several robust challenges went unpunished in the second half which also added to Angels frustration.
