Sin bin option?
« on: Wednesday, 02 January, 2008, 18:06.17 »

Here in the not very sunny Algarve, we managed a fairly erudite discussion the other day but couldn't reach a conclusion.

What do you think?

In almost every game a defender hacks down an opponent, free-kick given. Under the stupid FIFA instruction to referees, the injured player has to leave the field until the game has re-started. That leaves his non-offending team at a disadvantage for, sometimes, a matter of some minutes until he is either sorted out or subbed.

One idea that surfaced was to make the offending player also leave the field for the same length of time, which would even things up.

Then of course 'what about goalkeepers' with which we couldn't figure out a means of dealing.

If football did have sin bins would goalkeepers ever go in there?

See you on the 12th!
