this really is a no win situation for the club.
how often do we see people on here 'demanding' to know whats happening ie have we signed/are we looking for etc etc.
and sometimes the club is unable to say speciically 'yes we are talking to player x but wants the fans to know that things are moving and news will be announced as soon as it can.
If they say nothing then they get berated for either not doing anything or not giving fans the info.

Take this week, I knew we were after Westcott some time ago, so when ,say Dengal posts 'wtf is going on' if I had come on here sat ying' its ok Al we are trying to sign Westcot from Horsham' then they may well go and put him on contract. (or another club move in) Now that wouldnt have happened in this case but I hope you can see the point I am trying to make.
Also the club couldnt announce his signing until it was officially ratified by the league but before that it was leaked out via Horshams and our forum -so we get the ' why isnt the website up to date scenario again. See what I mean about no win

I also knew Mainy was almost certain to leave last Saturday but again nothing was definite until Tuesday evening after he has spoken to AFC. Theres also the fee thing again figures are being bandied about and if people start saying oh we sold him for 5 grand whats the club up to, we can only post - 'it wasnt 5 grand it was a good figure for the club. Then someone says well if you know tell us. Well Nick has asked us not to because if other teams find out we have half a million quid to spend then their players sudenly go up in price.

The club is looking for new players -can anyone doubt that ? And yes some names are known, so do we say - give it a week lads and there will be a new forward or say patience Dengal (not picking on you Al honest) we are just trying to get wayne rooney to agree to £400 a week (which is when Liverpool offer £500 and we lose him) or say sod all and have to be accused of keeping the fans in the dark.

I say 'we ' and would add I have no offical capacity witht he club but Nick will ring me and ask me to post things so that the fans are kept informed. Surely its better to know that things are happening rather than nothing ? Nick is aware of whats said on here and is anxious to keep fans intouch- how many Chairmen would stand chatting to fans after a game answering questions rather than be in the boardroom on the plonk and prawn sarnies.

I guess what i am trying to say is there must be some compromise here so we can keep up a flow of info, failing that it will be lips sealed until it happens.

Anyway my head now hurts even more than it did at 3 am this morning thanks to Mr Stringfellow so its off to the game..

BUT just to let you know all being well there will be an interview with Tom and possibly nIck posted on the Offical site some time this evening (or tomorrow) which may answer some of the questions being bandied around.

Dan it miight also be an idea to allow Mike to post -say as Mike (what a brilliant idea) when he wants to put his own opinion across and then as OW when he wants to announce official news ?

that way his personal views cannot be seen to be those of the club

i think the real problem is that you tell your son that information and he continually goes on about it
all you really need to put is
we have recieved a fee for jon main , which is actively being spent to strengthen the team, tommy is talking to a number of targets who cannot be named for obvious reasons
i'm not bothered by all the willy waving
but i guess some people are
and you are gonna get yourself banned

oh yeah enjoy the game

not quite true Nick tells him a fair amount too
all you really need to put is

I did that but people kept trhowing around incorrect figures

It is not a no win situation for the club, it is nothing to do with the club, it is to do with individual posters. The rules of the forum were made quite clear to you both when your bans were lifted, under no circumstances were there to be any posts of that nature, until there was any confirmed news to be posted, for example if people want to float incorrect transfer fees around then let them, speculation is always going to happen, get on with it and ignore it rather than trying to quash it.

Not relevant, as far as i'm aware no one has had any issue with the website not being updated because a signing was confirmed on the forum a few hours early. The comments were aimed at match reports or even results being missing for weeks at a time, and that has been dealt with in a whole other thread.

Personally I don't care who knows more than someone else, but it is obviously rubbing enough people up the wrong way on this forum, so I will now be moderating the forum more strictly. I also was aware of the Westcott transfer, but I had the common sense not to post about it, constant "we are in talks with player A and player B but we can't name them" posts are irrelevant and are not welcomed on this forum. If there is anyone who can't accept these rules then I am quite happy for them to go away.

as far as i can see we havent been informed of any news anyway as we are not allowed to know it, just that there is some!!!!

It's hard to be a peasent nowadays, if only we were all part of the hallowed Ide bloodline eh???

to be honest reading this thread has been pointless who cares if florida angel or his son know more than other supporters.
