Dobla - The Fans Response
« on: Thursday, 01 September, 2005, 21:16.27 »

"If people don’t like what Im doing –well let them say it to my face. I am a totally approachable guy (as most referees know!) and am always happy to talk to the fans and explain things to them. But they have to remember that they aren’t always fully aware of all that’s going on. For instance people who moaned about Tim Hambley not playing against Banstead. Did they know he got lost and was too late to go on the team sheet? No. Exactly. At our level these things happen. We have great support here and the fans are the best. The vocal support we get is second to none but my message would be- I manage, the players play and you support. Please give us 100% and stop the negative remarks which we feel are very unjust."

I have spoken to your face before Dobla - I now know how the Ref's feel!  Grin Defensive footballer, defensive Manager  Wink

You are right in saying TA have great support. As i have said before - you did not inherit the easiest job in the world. You had to make do with a shoe string and the players that stayed after the exodus. Just a couple of results going our way would have been enough to have kept us up. But, we can't have it all. The club is in a stronger position financially this season than last. We also have a much larger squad. That must be a huge bonus for a manager.

As for 'sniping' from supporters - goes with the territory i'm afraid. We all know better than you, and from our armchairs or the side of the pitch or behind the goals, we could run this team right up to the Premiership!  Cheesy

As for your comment re Tim Hambley, he should have a far more professional approach to his game - www.racrouteplanner.com should give him a little indicator. Everyone else managed to find their way  Wink

Glad we supporters keep you on your toes Dobla, afterall, if you were surrounded by 'yes' men all the time, you might just relax, enjoy your sunday roast and stick two fingers up at the team!

We'll always have an opinion, whether you agree with us or not, we don't really care, aslong as we can voice that opinion, stir up banter between ourselves and other teams fans. Without us, there would be no you, no football and no TA FC Roll Eyes

Enjoy the rest of the season. We will, good or bad, aslong as we've got something to watch and something to talk about.

Not a bad start, 3rd in the table  Smiley Smiley Smiley

I think possibly a 'Meet The Manager' session every once a month or something might be worthwhile?! The evening we had with Nick Sullivan went really well and everyone got their different views across. A similar thing with maybe Dobla and Ruthers would be beneficial.

That was done once last season with Tony and Paul Dainty. Don't remember many people turning out for it though.
