The Under 18's played their first Southern Youth League game this evening away to Bromley at Hayes Lane. The starting line-up was: -
1 Shayne Goldsmith 2 Matt Hollyoak 3 Alex McEwan 4 Mike Cramp 5 Simon Gibson 6 Ian Parkes 7 Kyle Reeves 8 Scott McEwan 9 James Morgan 10 Adam ONeill 11 Elliott Everson
Subs: - 12 Craig Fermor 14 Greg Palmer 15 Paul Butler 16 Dean Spenceley 17 Jack Moore
Hopefully a more detailed report will follow but these are the basic's.
Due to the height advantage of the Bromley side, we started in a 4 - 5 - 1 formation. After 18 minutes we found ourselves 3 - 0 down. We changed to a 4 - 4 - 2 formation and started to dominate the play. By half time we had got back to 3 - 2 with Adam O'Neill and Ian Parkes scoring.
We basically dominated the second half and scored 2 unreplied goals through Elliott Everson and Adam O'Neill.
Pleasing performance from the lads once they settled.

This was a superb performance by the Angels against a direct and physical, albeit talented Bromley side. Despite being 0-3 down after 29 mins the lads kept playing a disciplines passing game and fully deserved to be back to 2-3 at half time. In the second half Tonbridge continued to play very well against a tiring Bromley side and fully deserved to win. The whole side, ably captained by Scott McEwan, ran themselves into the ground but still withstood tremendous Bromley pressure for the last ten minutes. It's fair to say that not many teams will get the better of Bromley at this level so this result indicates just what a good side Tonbridge are. In fact I think we may expect great things this season and Barry and his coaching team should be proud of the way the side performed in this game, they were a credit to Tonbridge AFC.
