West Kent Sunday Football League 40th Anniversary Book
« on: Monday, 18 June, 2007, 14:39.10 »

The West Kent Sunday Football League celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2006-07 and to commemorate this landmark a book has been written to be released on September 1st 2007. There is a launch evening at Tunbridge Wells FC that evening. Anyone conncected to the league is welcome to attend.

The book is 300 pages long, contains over 200 archive photos and 330,000 words. It consists of reviews of each season including all cup finals ever staged by the league stretching back to 1969 when Manor Sports beat Capel 3-2 in the first ever Senior Cup final (held at Culverden Stadium). The book also charts WKSFL club participation in county cup competitions including the two Kent Sunday Premier Cup successes of Artois United in the 1980s. And over 50 people have submitted personal memory articles reminiscing on their time in the league.  Many Tonbridge players have played for WKSFL sides down the years including three Emblems (Phil, Paul and Neil), Archie Thorburn and Mark Gillham to name but a few.

To find out more about the book or to pre-order at the discounted price of £12.99 - contact Andrew Newman on 07743 831697 or e-mail anewman@cclplc.com. Also visit the league's website at www.wksl.org.uk

It is one of the biggest Sunday leagues for miles and many Tonbridge legends have played in it  Some Angels followers still do so they must be doing something right!.
