Still no joy for the Angels! Neither Jon Main nor our win over Chelmsford are good enough apparently.
The fifth series of the Ryman Football League's Monthly Awards, covering the month of January 2007, have been announced this morning as follows: Manager of the Month (Sponsored by Errea Sport Ltd.) . . Premier Division . . . . Alan Devonshire - Hampton & Richmond Borough F.C. . . Division One North . . . . Colin Wallington - Maldon Town F.C. . . Division One South . . . . Alan Walker/Lloyd Hume - Maidstone United F.C. Team Performance of the Month (Sponsored by GX Soccer) . . Premier Division . . . . Slough Town F.C. . . Division One North . . . . Great Wakering Rovers F.C. . . Division One South . . . . Corinthian-Casuals F.C. Golden Gloves Award (Sponsored by Pro Secure in association with the Professional Footballers Association) . . Premier Division . . . . Shaun Allaway - Staines Town F.C. . . Division One North . . . . Ricky Wiseman - Canvey Island F.C. . . Division One South . . . . Paul Borg - Leatherhead F.C. Golden Boots Award (Sponsored by Redeye Sports Management in association with the Professional Footballers Association) . . Premier Division . . . . Stephen Goddard - AFC Wimbledon with 7 League goals . . Division One North . . . . Neil Richmond - Great Wakering Rovers F.C. with 4 League goals . . Division One South . . . . Paul Vines - Tooting & Mitcham United F.C. with 5 League goals The award for the "Team Performances of the Month" recognises a particularly noteworthy performance by a Club during that month. Slough Town, bottom of the Premier Division, had not won a match since mid-October. But with a change of manager, they travelled to Heybridge Swifts, who are play-off contenders, and recorded an excellent 3-2 victory. In Division One North, Great Wakering Rovers had sat for may weeks in the relegation zone, only to travel midweek to Bury Town, where not only did they win, but recoded five goals to their credit - the best victory of their season to date. Corinthian-Casuals, desperately behind every other side in Division One South at the foot of the table, had recorded just one solitary win before Christmas - that happening back in August. With all the odds against them, they turned their performances around in January, winning three and drawing one of their six games, including a victory over League leaders Dulwich Hamlet.

have to say, I think I agree with the decision for team performance. Beating Chelmo was great but it was team not far off the play offs winning at home to a team in the play offs - on the face of it, not a huge shock. Whereas Slough winning at Heybridge really was a bolt out the blue. As for Main, not sure about that cos I can't remember how many goals he got - must have been close I spose...

Has Jon Main actually won the Golden Boot Award this season?
