Mark Gillham was certainly turning out a couple of seasons ago, for Sherwood I think.

On the point of long suspensions, I recall Duncan Barth then of Red House FC getting a six month ban for allegedly head butting someone. I am fairly sure a certain Mr T King must have had a few months off football now and then! Any other candidates from local leagues?

When I did the registrations for the Sunday League I used to get a list every year  from KCFA of sine-die suspensions, some dating back 20 years!

(sine-die = legal term "without fixed date" as some of you might have heard from m'lud)

More recently there have been some very long suspensions as a result of failing drugs tests. Abel Xavier got 18 months I think. How about Shane Warne? And who was that bloke who played once or twice for Chelsea, Mutu wasn't it? Can't remember how long he got.

It's a good job there isn't drug and alcohol testing on a Sunday morning.

Just heard on the news that Shoaib Akthar, another of the Pakistanis who was banned but appealed successfully, is out of the World Cup through injury. There is justice.

I wonder if referee's or umpires are subject to the same drug testing regulations.Just a thought considering the important decisions they have to make. Huh

That Daryl Hair who abandoned the England v Pakistan match last year must have been on something.

Seriously I have no idea whether refs and umpires are tested for mind-altering substances. They certainly weren't during my time with the KCFA.

as far as i am aware they are not at non league or amateur level, but as they are on the F.A Payroll at higher levels as (sportsmen/women) i think they will probably have random tests like the players

I really wonder about that.I would actually be surprised if they do get tested.Come on Dan,we want some research on this.I can think of a few,who if they're not on drugs should be. Evil
