ANSWER FOR BSC

i wasnt born in leeds, but i wasnt born in tonbridge either, does that mean i am not allowed to support them?

or is it that u dont believe i support leeds? to be honest, i cant see how you support torquay if your whinging about them all the time, i'm sure thats a great help and so productive

no supporter has any right to divine access to their club, if torquay wanted your input, they would ask for it, from what i am reading from the posts on this thread it seems that you have a chairman who maybe doesnt communicate best, or maybe made a mistake or two, but he is the chairmen, not you, deal with it, and take your head out of your ar5e thinking you have a right to control a Football club

 tickedoff

Calm down little boy. I only asked you where abouts in Leeds you were born. Couldn't give a flying fcuk if you support them or not.

'Whinging about Torquay'... never in a million years would I whinge about Torquay... but as a life-long supporter I believe I have a right to air my opinion on how it's run. And don't give me that bollox that the Chairman is there to do that. He's there to line is own pockets and then fcuk off leaving my club in a mess. He's not a supporter of football... he's a parasite.

And I wasn't born in Tonbridge either but consider myself a supporter of Tonbridge Angels having watched them regularly after having moved up to these parts in 1990. Prior to that I was a regular attendee at Plainmoor (the home of my first love)... so, as you can see, I wasn't asking 'how come you support Leeds if you weren't born there'.... I was merely asking where abouts in Leeds you were born as I have family in that part of the country.

And please show me where it says anywhere (yep, anywhere) that I said that I wanted to take control of a football club.... first of all I don't have that kind of money, and secondly I wouldn't know where to start.

ok... try it this way Aaron.... (hypothetically) would you be happy for the Angels to be taken over by someone who had no interest in the supporters, who didn't care for the supporters, who wouldn't even meet the supporters? Would you be happy for the Chairman to get rid of your better players to replace them with sub-standard ones?

I know what my answers would be. Would be interesting to hear yours.

hypothetically speaking, i wouldnt care, aslong as the club performed well.

I am a supporter of tonbridge angels, i want them to do well, i dont want them to sign as bigger names as possible, and if a chairman were to come in who doesnt associate with the fans as much as nick does then i wouldnt be particular bothered aslong as we were winning. But at the same time i would realise that performances arent down to how much a club/or chairman has "in their pocket", there are 16 players (maybe less for torquay, hehe) in a squad and a number of non-playing staff, all present on match days, they are the ones mainly responsible for performances.

And no BSC, by performances i dont mean winning every game, no one can do that, i mean showing fight, determination, drive, and a will to win without giving up.

As for selling the better players and replacing them with lesser-standard ones, consider this-

chelsea have 12/13 players who each, on their day, could arguably be the best player in the world in their position, yet they are behind a man utd squad who have a ruthless manager who teaches his side to fight first, showboat later, dont get me wrong, they are all a bunch of diving *******s at old trafford, but they fight for matches, chelsea players expect results.

oh, and please dont call me little boy, old man

C'mon boyz! And thank you Aaron for a more reasoned answer than your previous  Wink

Imagine this (hypothetical).... Paul Dainty announced he was leaving the Club - He wanted out for personal reasons..... A consortium came in headed by Nick Sullivan that could afford to buy him out. Prior to this appointment a Supporters Trust had been set up and the head of that Trust wants one day to be able to own the Club (look at previous posts). He doesn't have the money and does not like the thought of anyone else taking over the running of the Club either. Whatever progressive messages re the Club are announced He (Trust Head) shoots them down in flames on a public forum for fans that represent approx half a % of the overall support.

The Trust Head has the support of a Government led initiative known as Supporters Direct that 'advise' fans on how to prepare themselves to take over a Club if it finds itself about to go out of business.

So, Tonbridge Angels find themselves in a position of having a new Chairman that wants to progress the Club. The Trust does not trust his motives and gets the media behind them with the promise of a story of dissent and red cards and placards to be displayed at home games and a vote of no confidence in him.

The Chairman knows that he is doing his job to keep the team in the league and not allow them to be relegated no matter the position he walked into. Tiny budget to keep in the black and try and build a team from untrieds and some tested. A Manager who may not have the 'contacts' of a higher league but will try his best for the love of the game and personal pride. He wants to meet with the 'fans'. He know there is a Supporters Trust and works with them. The Trust Head for his own ego stabs the Chairman in the back and starts an internet and media war, for which the Chairman has too much proffessionalism to responds to but agrees to meet with the 'real fans'.

A vision of a better future - a grand stadium - to house more fans than are currently interested. A community stadium to house not only the Premier of football in the area but all sports (ask Dartford). A dream to put the Team on the map.

If our Chairman had come in to the dire results that the previous regime had left and the Manager had not left - where do you think he'd have recruited a Manager from? They don't grow on trees! To bring back a past saviour of the Club is all he could hope for while biding his time for the January window and bring that Saviour back he (Roberts) did! Lee is now there and it is obvious (as he would have to agree) he had the biggest hand in his appointment.

Read over the past history again. Bateson supports Roberts. Roberts supports the Club. Torquay were fked financially anyway (as for funds for bringing in top players) . Hit and hope is all that can be asked. If it means a drop to the Conference - then that is what will happen - other teams have bounced back - Look at Tonbridge Angels - first in - first out and back in again - then build for the future.

I reckon that Directly, Supporters should kick out the likes of Chris Fleet and support thier Club, thier team, thier Manager. They all want the same thing - or a little more.....

Hi Jane - just been reading the torquayunited.net website.  You've been brave !!

All our exchange of views last week & I never knew you were related to Chris Roberts, Mike Bateson & just about everyone else associated past & present with Torquay United !!

Good statement of opinion.  Sadly, the response was preditable.  The official website used to have a forum which Mike Bateson eventually closed down as it become too vilifying to become publicly acceptable to a professional club.  That's when he introduced the "Ask the Chairman" alternative.  These whingers were left with only one website for their vitriol which, thankfully for them, has little or no management from the moderator(s).

Of course, three years ago the club won promotion on the last day at Southend.  Then you couldn't get on either website for all the plaudits & grovelling in support of Bateson & Rosenior (the then manager).  Some "names" remain familiar from that era but opinions may have changed a little.  How fickle are footballing mankind !!!

Hi Neil, that is the way of the footballing world.....As you have gathered i've been very busy - Running a club in Devon is very tiring from such a distance!  2funny I am now sitting back and watching them implode  Wink

I so wanted the Gulls to win today. At least they did not lose! Couple of goals scored and a point gained.....But, there is no pleasing everyone  Roll Eyes And i did read back a long way before posting so knew what to expect.  Undecided But, it has allowed more 'reasonably' minded people to have thier say. I hope they turn out on Monday and stop that drivel machine.  Afro

It's not a game BSC. It's a crying shame....You will find they are probably in a no win situation that can only be made worse by some individuals. Not all hope is lost, but you can help them out positively and cheerfully or you can help send them down. You find an investor that will throw thier money into a Club that finds it hard to succeed beyond 5th from bottom in the last few seasons. They are rare beings. If you've still got any friends in the town urge them to the meeting on Monday and into the key roles of TUST and get the Steering Group out. Good luck.  Afro
