Click on the link below to find out how NOT to run a football club.

http://www.torquayunited.net/

I was born and bred in Torquay and it is so sad to see the demise of a great family club. United never set the football world alight, but they do not deserve the current 'Chairman' (and I use the term very loosely) that is currently in place.

JM... if you're referring to the Fans Forum, then sadly, Mr Roberts has decided to see fit to cancel it due in some part to the fact that the Torquay United Supporters Trust sent out a Press Release 'questioning' his role at Plainmoor... and due mainly to the fact that the bloke talks utter bollox whenever anyone will listen...

...he's even banned the Trust from using Boots n Laces (the pub within the ground) for meetings....

I am a Trust member, and will help fight tooth and nail to get this imbecile removed from what was once a great 'family' club.

The man has no idea. His main aim is to build a shiny new all-seater 10,000 seater stadium for the club ... yep, sounds great if we were in League 1 and had the supporters to fill it... truth is, we're rock bottom of League 2, facing almost certain relgation, haven't won a league game in the last 15  and have virtually no squad (United don't even have a reserve or youth set up).... we'll be lucky to put out 11 players on Saturday on what should've been a great day for the club.... sadly, we'll get trounced....

....people who have no idea about football... and more importantly, its fans... shouldn't be allowed to ru[i]n clubs....

Yes, i've read/am reading up on all that. What i'm not sure about is 'Supporters Direct' the organisation that assists clubs in helping the fans take control.

"the Trust is overseen by an
independent government-backed organisation in Supporters Direct, and is
subject to a legally-binding constitution governing how assets can be
used".

I don't understand enough about it to know if it is truly a good thing.

BSC, did you read the Chairman's statement on the Official Site?

Couple of things to consider - How long has the 'new' Chairman been in place. And, regarding bringing in new players before the January window. Also, you'd better take a look at the Club's financial situation on the Companies House website.

To cut a very long story short, Chris Roberts took over as Chairman of Torquay United at the end of last year with one aim... to destroy the club and line his own pockets....

I've been finding the Torquay forum and the Official site a very interesting read since you first posted about it on here.

Being an 'outsider' i may view it more objectively, but i don't trust Chris Fleet one inch! Regardless of what the fans 'think' the Chairman is in it for, Fleet cocked up a perfect opportunity to have the fans forum with him by going back on his word and issuing a self serving statement!

The rot had set in before Roberts took over. No fans like to see thier club struggle. And there is no surer way than riling them by a bad run of results!

The trust is established, so no problem if things do come to the worst.
