How much more of a derby did you want BigClogger? Huh

Ramsgate and Margate were obviously paired together which left us as Folkestone's nearest club.

Two away games and 6 points .. brilliant stuff. All things considered would have been happy with 3 or 4 pts.
Massive game on Saturday now for both clubs that have play off 'hopes' ... other teams are beginning to come into the picture and I bet Staines will feature at some point. Six pointer for sure.
Big question is will match go ahead .. weather don't look good. knuppel2

I guess we don't have a true Derby game, maybe Clogger means a Home game over Xmas... pity we didn't have one home game out of the two Xmas games.

I was really bemoaning the fact that we don't have any proper derby matches this year (not even Calais as a substitute derby game), plus we didn't even have a home game to get a big crowd in over crimbo.

So we all need to get our big sticks out to make sure that we get a huge crowd on Saturday!

Back to the game.

Can't say I thought it was a great one but I think credit must go to the manager in this case.
The pitch was as bumpy as bubble wrap and the decision to fill the side with midfielders payed off. Folkestone couldn't get any quality possession and this meant that they could never threaten.

Well done to Tony and Ruthers.

Yes and that does hurt a bit.

Folkestone Invicta 0-2 Angels
Tuesday 26th December 2006
Ryman Premier Division

A professional and excellent team performance at the Buzzlines Stadium on Boxing Day saw the Angels pick up two wins and six points within the space of three days. Midfielders Fraser Logan and Nick Barnes both scored tap-ins, one in each half, as the Angels picked up possibly the easiest three points they’re ever likely to get.

Robbie Kember made his first start since picking up an ankle injury in November, replacing Ryan Maxwell whilst Ian Parkes also dropped to the substitute’s bench to make way for the returning Nick Barnes. Luke Piscina was also welcomed back after getting married over the Christmas period.

Jon Main almost continued where he had left off against Boreham Wood just a couple of days earlier but his delightful chip was turned over by the back-peddling Tony Kessell. Barnes and Logan both struck from distance but were unable to break the deadlock whilst Sly and Corbett did likewise for the hosts. A lucky deflection fell nicely into the path of Michael Power but on his weaker left foot, he drilled wide of the left hand upright. The Angels did however go ahead just before half-time as Logan tapped in from a Jon Main cross come shot. It was only what the visitors had deserved and duly went into the interval a goal to the good.

Main hit the side netting on the hour mark before Nick Barnes made the game safe with his first goal for the club since returning from Dartford. Michael Power sent Jon Main through with a delightful through ball and he chipped over Kessell for the unmarked Barnes to finish. The same player nearly made it three-nil but his thunderbolt from distance flashed just wide of the target in stoppage time.

A deserved and trouble-free three points for the Angels sets them up nicely for another Kent derby with Ramsgate at the weekend. A brilliant team performance but the Angels Man of the Match Award was between Michael Power and that man again, Jon Main.

I thought the ref was the best i,ve seen this year, hardly any bad comments.
how on earth did this poor folkstone side get a draw with horsham
