Premiership, the best league in the World.  Grin That's always made me laugh.
In my opinion, the best 'spectator' league... yes definately by a mile. But quality, nooooo way.  Grin
Depends what one's interpretation of 'quality' is I guess.

Who says I wasn't behind my country tonight  knuppel2

The Premiership may well be the best league in the world but that's beacuse the best players in the Premiership aren't English. At the moment we are just not good enough to compete with even the mediocre teams, let alone the best in the World.

Let's face it, the FA didn't want McLaren, he's the compromise manager. If Barwick hadn't f**ked up landing Scolari, maybe just maybe things would be different but he'd have his work cut out dealing with this bunch of overpaid Z list celebrities. McLaren is hardly an improvement over Sh*gger Eriksson, more like Graham Turnip Taylor.

Will McLaren's reign be the shortest ever?

Well said

As for McLaren, i back him for the sack, now!!!  tickedoff

Can you honestly say, Dan, you prefer Sven to Steve McLaren? It's a 100% improvement from the uninventive Swede!

Yes.

He won qualifying matches and consistently got us to the quarter-finals of major tournaments, more than three of his four predecessors managed, and more than his successor looks likely to.

The facts tell their own story.   Roll Eyes

A question I find myself asking constantly, why is his nationality relevant?

Exactly. I couldn't care less if the manager was from Mars as long as he was good. We should have held on to Scolari when we had the chance.

I'm sorry but I don't understand how you can sack someone after only FOUR competitive games in charge? Two of which we won, including a five-nil drubbing and we've kept three clean sheets. All of a sudden after one defeat, 'we aint gonna qualify.' Give the lad a break!

At least he had the balls to try something different (unlike the money-grabbing Swedish tw*t), we wouldn't have known otherwise whether it be successful or not.

I have plenty of faith in Macca's ability. He hasn't exactly had the best of luck to his England managerial career - virtually the whole of our first choice midfield of Joe Cole, Stevie G and Owen Hargreaves are missing through injury as well as Michael Owen. Add to that the unfortunate incident that happened last night.

As far as I'm concerned, I am English, not British, not Swedish or any other sh*tty nationality. And I'm f***ing proud to be it too! Success with a homegrown English manager will be all that much sweeter....

I can only comment on what i saw.Which i found extremely worrying. We played a back five, with a holding midfield player, yet we were caught out time and time again.Four nil would not have been an unfair reflection of the game.I can remember at least two excellent saves and two squandered chances, which would really made it a hiding.
I'm afraid that the truth is that our young players are not developing because we drag in too many players from abroad, and they are flooding the top two divisions.
Good youngsters are coming through Acadamys, but not,as they used to,being groomed to play first team football.
Clubs like Arsenal have shown that they don't give a toss about English football,by continually importing players.
Until there is a total rethink on the use of foreign players in the Premiership we as a Country are going to suffer.Get used to it.We're not good enough and it aint going to change soon.
I still think we'll qualify. But keep the kleenex handy. Cry
