Chelmsford 3 Tonbridge 2
« on: Monday, 25 September, 2006, 22:28.01 »

Well what a game! Thought we came away possibly the better side over the whole 90 minutes and a draw certainly would have been a fairer result.

First half we started to look good but Chelmsford were always going to be a threat going forward, very quick and strong. They got a penalty but couldn't honestly see whether or not it was from where we were and scored. Mainy got one back but was given offside.  According to Luke who was level warming on the touchline said it was offside. Then they almost immediately went up the other end and scored. Last 15 mins we went to sleep and they continued to attack and attack and got a third!

Second half well maybe someone could fill in the blank because I wasn't allowed out of the bar and unfortunately missed Mainy's goal. However we looked the far superior side and was playing some lovely football. Kember had a blinder and was at the heart of everything. Luke came on and within 10 mins or so curled a lovely shot round the keeper to make it two! We continued to look for the equaliser but just couldn't quite get it.

To finish new ground but with complete lack of atmosphere due to the fact your miles from the pitch, a nice playing surface though! Didn't hear a thing out of their supporters all second half. Plenty of positives to take and we play like we did second half and we will demolish a few teams this season!

The sideline seating \standing area is way too far away. I saw one woman with binoculars, no joke. There were probably more.. they need 'em.
They would do a good trade selling Binoculars there.  Grin
On a positive it is good they have incorporated some temporary terracing (of sorts) behind the goal. I don't know if this is unusual for these 'running tracks' or not.
They have the room to put some proper covered terracing behind the goals, and the money (cough) ,  if they have any sense they would do it. Maybe it's not possible because of all the other stuff\sports that goes on there.
Anyway.....
Unlucky not to get a point.

I believe CC are up against the council for the lack of permanent stands behind the goals, therefore you have the ro-ro's with no overhead cover.  Undecided Better that than nothing.

I've never been to a ground like it in non-league. As you enter the main seating area, you look out over a baize of a pitch. Superb looking surface, it's just not non-league because of  the distance you are from the players and the atmosphere etc. You may aswell be at a Premiership match. I didn't know whether to love it or hate it. I decided fairly quickly i hated it Sad

Bar area was very nice to walk into nearly 2 hours before kick off. It only became souless when occupied.  Undecided

The worse thing for me was dragging myself back out after half time when 3-0 down. Thank gawd we got it to a respectable 3-2. The last 15 minutes bombardment from us was the highlight for me. But it wasn't to be. So well done to CC. Dodgy pen though  Wink

And i didn't get to meet mon Petre  Cry Tongue

" I saw one woman with binoculars, no joke. "

Yes; I know that woman. She's over 80 and is partially sighted. The view from the stand is splendid because of the elevation and a damn sight nearer the pitch than you'd be at the back of the stand at Old Trafford!

We didn't kill you off and almost paid the price. You guys came back well.

But as some of you posted earlier today. You didn't feel under pressure about the game, preferring instead a win in the cup against Banbury.

Nice to get some respect from the league favourites:

" True, Angels are no mugs this season. They are among the early front runners and they had a good win on Saturday."

If we can take wins against Banbury and Leyton that will really set us up for the season. Thought we were outstanding in the second half last night, especially the last 15 minutes, and we showed we can match any side on our day.  Smiley Shame about the two goals conceded in the last 7 minutes of the first half - City were clinical there and it proved to be the difference.

What about all the yellows (not to mention the RED) cards that we are getting lately.

Are they bourne of frustration?
We could regret them later on this year.

What a great game though.
When I saw we were three down, I thought we were done for.
... but LiveAngels kept me on the edge of my chair ... thanks

I think with the strength in depth we have at the club at the moment, the odd suspension here and there shouldn't affect us too much.
