Folkestone 2 Angels 1
« on: Saturday, 06 August, 2005, 17:04.17 »

We lost 2-1 in the Sid Burvill Cup game today. No doubt they'll invite us back to it again as it's the 3rd time they have beaten us!  Sad Dobla scored.

not the best performance although according to my neutral bro in law we were the better team in the second half.

Big mistake playing Parkes at RB would have much preferred JB there and Aris and cramp-who played well when he came on.

Midfield hampered by the early loss of Dazza and no nicky B. Ollie Miles tried hard but was out of his depth Danny Lye had a good game but Im sorry Bert was awful and just inst doing the job. I cant remember one pass that went to a blue shirt

Luke however was outstanding and could have nabbed the equaliser right at the death

The excessive number of friendlies is taking its toll now, a few half-hearted efforts although it did spark up a bit in the second half.

Pete I don't know what you have against Bert at the moment but he played well today and showed loads of passion, won't be long now before he starts getting back to his best.  Smiley

Most played well - notably Lye, Beales, Heath & Piscina.
The Parkes-at-right-back experiment failed miserably (i HOPE it was an experiment!).
We were caught v square & flat-footed at the back on too many occasions in the first half. Their first goal was the only bit of quality in the whole game.
The injury to Darren Smith looked nasty - defender was well latewhen he was through on goal - i thought it was a friendly!
I got this shot of the bad tackle & a pic of the resulting lump:

a few errors are forgivable but less than 100% commitment is not.
losing is never an option.

It was indeed late on Smithy and the ref let it go.

dan- we were watching with a very neutral observer and he thought Bert was diaolical. Sorry but IMHO you were watching summat different Bert never completed a pass and ran around like a headless chicken. At TW he was bad today he was worse

I had to give my MOM vote to Luke cos he was dynamite! His footwork was superb and a joy to watch. Never gave up and rose to the support of the crowd.

Beales was very very good throughout too. Very industrious great play throughout.

Bert gave his 100% as usual and was flying all over the pitch. I thought he had a much better game than at TW. He's one of them players like DL who get moaned at  for the mistakes they make and no credit for all the good they do. He constantly disrupted the flow of the oppo even though his final touch may not have been the best......

Cramp when he came on in the 2nd half was superb - absolute class.

It was unfortunate that Parkes was played out of position. He is a confident player and i hope it hasn't knocked him back by playing him there yesterday.

And, Kentishman - where are my promised pics??? You know the ones  Wink
