Tonbridge Angels vs Diamond FC - Charity game
« on: Wednesday, 13 September, 2006, 21:19.35 »

On behalf of Diamond Charity football club I justed wanted to let you know about a forthcoming charity match to be held against Tonbridge Angels XI on Sunday September 24th.  Details are below and at time of writing the Angels team is to be confirmed.  The match is at the Angels home ground.

Any questions let me know .  Cheers Matt

Diamond Charity Football Club (DCFC), based at Whyteleafe FC in Surrey, is delighted to announce their next fixture against a Tonbridge Angels FC XI on Sunday 24th September.  This is the fourth game DCFC has arranged and follows on from successful matches against Netherne, Whyteleafe (both last year) and Leatherhead in July of this year.

We believe that DCFC is the first football club set up solely to play games in order to raise money for charity.  Our chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation.  Although registered with the Surrey FA, we don’t play in any leagues or cup competitions just specially arranged games.

The club is run on a voluntary basis and has a squad of 17 players plus former professional footballers.  Our president is Steve Kember, formerly of Chelsea and Crystal Palace.  So far we have been fortunate enough to have Jim Cannon (ex-Palace captain who played over 600 games), Brian Sparrow (ex Millwall, Arsenal, Palace), Stuart Massey (ex Palace, Oxford) and Steve himself play in our games.

Recent new additions to the squad include Simon Rodger, Bobby Bowry and South Croydon based Celebrity Artist George Ioannou.

Going forward our aim is to broaden the range of our guests to include celebrities from various fields not just those from the world of football.

As you will appreciate any coverage we can get benefits the cause of the club and with this in mind we should be extremely grateful for any mention you could make to publicise the club, it’s good work and future fixtures.  We will be sending out press releases prior to each game as our guest players become confirmed.

Tonbridge Angels FC v Diamond FC
Venue: Longmead Stadium, Darenth Avenue, Tonbridge, Kent TN10 3JW
Date: Sunday 24 September 2006
Kick off: 2.00
Tickets: Adults £4.00, Under 16s £1.00, Under 5s free
General: Diamond FC guests from Steve Kember, Jim Cannon, Stuart Massey, Brian Sparrow, Simon Rodger and Dean Austin.  South Croydon based celebrity artist George Ioannou is to play for the first time.  All subject to availability.

Excellent - You're a diamond geezer!  Afro

Angels usually get  a pretty good team for the Charity matches i.e Blewey etc, though our keeper is a bit dodgy usually!  Grin

I'll look forwards to this one.  Smiley

Will have to keep your post prominent.  Smiley
