Tonbridge Legends
« on: Sunday, 31 July, 2005, 18:07.52 »

This is for the 60 Years Book project. The idea is to have 20 profiles of "Tonbridge Legends" dotted throughout the book. These can be players, crowd heroes or managers and they will be evenly spread out through the generations. What I'm asking is that you make your nominations here so that we can have a 'shortlist' (or 'biglist' I don't know how many we'll end up with) and then gradually whittle them down to 20.

Well enough of the chat, I'll get the ball rolling!

Neil Emblen

what about including 1 or 2 behind-the-scenes legends in the 20. There must have been a few unsung heroes who have kept the club going through difficult times.

Yep those can count too.

Tony and Pat Westguard are names I have heard crop up a lot - I am too young to remember them but judging from the research I've been doing without Tony the club may not have stayed afloat when we lost the Angel Ground - Others with longer memories will be able to confirm this for me. Smiley

The story of Archie Thorburn is an interesting one, but I have no idea if he is still alive.

A question , will BAT Sports have to change their name under the new sponsorship rules?
