:angel Evening all [or should I say good morning} Have had a great 4 hrs watching the first two games. The Germany vs Costa Rica was the best opening game for a while? Poland have got to learn to score if they want to go any further ? On saying that they will probably push Germany in the next game? Got to get up at 6 am tomorrow to watch England, here's hoping for a great game & awin??

Well, I hope it was worth getting up at 6am? What a dire game, in the second half we made a poor Paraguay team look quite good. Gave them too much time on the ball in midfield, not one of our "star" midfielders looked capable of taking control of the game.
With England looking increasingly unlikely to score a much needed second goal, why take off Owen and replace him with another midfielder leaving Lurch Crouch on his own up front? Surely this was the time to give wonder kid Walcott a chance - he couldn't have done any worse. As ever with Sven it seemed a totally inept substitution.
So, based on that performance compared to Germany's against Costa Rica and Argentina's against Ivory Coast, does Sven's boast that we can win the World Cup sound a bit hollow? I bet Brazil are quaking at the prospect of playing us!
That said I'll still be roaring them on to victory over the coming weeks

What on earth is going on ? Here we go again blindly believing that we have a divine right to expect "Our Boys" to outplay the rest because we are naturally better than them because of the Premier League and all that full stop. Oh and where on earth is Paraguay. This attitude never fails to piss me right off and this year it's even worse because so many watching know "****" all about the real game. Including sadly some of the journalists covering the event. I do believe that the last competitive match Paraguay played was in the qualifying tournament against who other than Argentina.
The result ?
1-0
To Paraguay!!!!!
The boys done good knocking them and the manager is easy.

just got back from a fantastic trip. The Germans have got the organisation almost spot on. A fantastic stadium and superb transport system -only spoiled by running out of Englsih programmes an hour before the game. Lots of useless ones in german though !
I can confirm it was incredibly hot and as the stadium was totally enclosed there was no breeze at all/ Also the pitch had been left a bit long which must have also been tiring.
As to the game Crouch was outsanding and my MOTM. Neviile poor, most of the other average and really we made it hard for ourselves by sitting back.
However the major talking point was the subtitutions and the lack of strikers. Downing is slow at international level- he couldnt overtake a sleeping policeman and Hargreaves ! Got a bad reception from the fans and went on to earn it. Why did Sven leave Carrick on the bench when he is a far better player..Also when he took off Owen what options did we have Rooney -oh no or Walcott. He has messed up big time not taking one more front man.
The referee was indeed poor and fussy, highlight of the game was Robinson hitting the big screen - that was A kick I can tell you.
Frankfurt lovely city and the Germans were superb hosts - didnt meet one person who couldnt speak fleunt English. generally the fans were well behaved which was a good thing seeing the riot police waiting at the station. Toughest meanest lot I have ever seen. I think they actually wanted it to kick off.
Great night out at a man made beach club alongside the river. Great music and drinking, best part was an international beach volleyball game just after midnight with us , germans Italians French a Serb and a couple of Argies. really friendly atmosphere amongst all the nationalities and a real heavy party night. Got back to the hotel just as the sun came up at 430 !!!!! Theres also a tale of losing a taxi and ending up in a knocking shop -but not for public consumption.
Boy am I knackered

So far have enjoyed most of the games? There was so much more Swen could have done instead of tajust tajing Owen off? Would have tried putting Gerard up front with lofty, then brought in a roving midfield player & so keep attacking? There have been some suprises? Ivory coast, Equador T & T & Angola Have to see how they do in the next rounds? Very interesting to see How we do against T & T next game? Don't have to get up early? 9 am game? Here's to a good win?
