Well, it looks as though Felipe Scolari is out of the running (thank god!) so who do you guys want as next England manager? Looks to be down to the three options above...

Personally I'd have been quite happy with Scolari so I'm disappointed. He has a proven record of success which is more than could be said of any other front-running candidate. What happened to Martin O'Neill?

Agreed. He was by far the best option, would have won cups for sure.

Allardyce, fair enough, but would adopt this boring style of football which at the end of the day noone wants to see.

McLaren and Curbishly - Just, WHY? What have they ever done which would convince someone to rely on them in winning trophies?

Although Scolari may have been the best option, the guy doesn't speak a word of English and cannot cope with the media 24/7. Having photographers and journalists around you every minute of every day is part and parcel of the England manager's job - it's the biggest managerial job in the world!

Agree with LewBoi about Allardyce, he really doesn't do it for me with the boring direct football.

Likewise, Curbishley hasn't really done anything.

That leaves McLaren out of those (apparently) still in the running. Getting Middlesbrough to a UEFA Cup Final is something to be proud of, although he wouldn't be the ideal choice for me.

Personally i'd like to see Sam Allardyce or Martin O'Neill as manager. Steve McLaren would be an absolute disaster as England manager

I would disagree with that, as in both second legs of the Uefa Cup comebacks, yes they were brilliant, but McLaren got the tactics wrong every time. It only worked when he brought on Maccarone when he was forced both times to make a sub (Southgate injury) and after he was forced to make substitutions it actually worked, which shows he gets his tactics wrong on big games and it only worked when he was forced into it.

Personally I'd go with Trevor Brooking as manager and Stuart Pearce and Ian Wright as Assistants. Imagine the half time team talks! Grin
