Different Gravy

Another bitterly disappointing result this afternoon.
JJ was pretty lucky to stay on the pitch after the rash challenge that led to the penalty but did make a couple of good saves during the second half. Drew looks good, especially going forward, did well until substituted late on. Danny Glozier had a tremendous game up until that unfortunate sending off. Made surging runs, lots of pace and scored our second. Should never have been sent off but on the other hand, he shouldn't have put himself in a position to make the ref make a decision. Bealesy had his usual steady afternoon. Chopper was perhaps at fault for the first goal where he got caught and mistimed a through ball but made up for it with a couple of last ditch challenges in the second half. Lew Watts had by far his worst game for the club yesterday. Was moved to left-back after the interval and looked completely and utterly lost. Luke showed some decent touches but was unable to really get into the game at all and looked a little short of full fitness, thus was subbed. You can't fault Barnesy's work ethic but I think he missed Lyesy in the centre of the park to help him out a bit. It just wasn't Fraser's game at all yesterday, maybe the pitch contributed to that. Wade played tremendously up until he picked up a knock and was forced to come off at the interval, won most headers and played a delightful chip for Razor's opener. Razor gave his everything for the cause and took his goal well, my Man of the Match for his committment and work ethic alone. Stevo had very little time to do anything and in my opinion, should've been given more time. Deano looked out of sorts, perhaps still carrying a knock, but played some poor passes. Poor old Mainy can't score for love nor money at the moment, hit the post late on, no confidence at all.
Croydon looked half decent, good going forward but poor at the back. Everything they did went through Andy Martin and Eben Allen, two dangerous frontmen, who will cause any defence problems. Their keeper was a good laugh all afternoon, one of the friendliest guys all season.
Some will say it was another poor performance, but I'm getting sick and tired of not getting the run of the green. When will our luck ever change? The sending off, Wade's injury, Mainy hitting the post etc.
We missed Danny Lye an awful lot today, that pitch was made for him.

Danny Lye was absent becuase his partner gave birth late Friday night with some complications. I agree he was missed- on a diabolical pitch it was always going to be hard to play football. Thought first half we were good value for the 2-1 lead thanks to a good strike by razor and then a follow up after good work by Luke and Razor by Danny G.
Thern the ref who was poor all game managed to spoil it by sending off DG for an innocuous challenge which their guy made a meal of. Sadly the no 3 had set the tone by diving arounnd early on and this time the **** in black fell for it.
After that playing with 10 men was always going to be hard and it didnt help us letting them back in the gamer so early in the second. From then on we struggled never getting the formation right and eventually they scored from a very similar situation to the Horsham game -cross from the left and an unchallenged header.
The ref was given stick at the end and rightly so but as usual with these pompous pratts walked off with a smug grin on his face.
Croydon were ok but nothing special- dived around a lot and Martin showed a superb piece of sportsmanship. First half after a Croydon 'Injury' razor returned the ball for a goal kick. However second half again a Croydon player goes down injured and Martin deposits the drop ball 2 yards from the corner flag for a throw inwhen we had possesion at the half way line- class mate.
With ramsgate 12 and Horsham 7 points ahead automatic promotion now looks unlikely. Therefore as mentioned recently its now important we a) make the play offs ( 4 more wins ?) and b) hit them running on good form with some wins under our belt.
