Sevenoaks 1 Angels 0

Ex-Angel Dave Forster with the headed winner after 25 minutes against an Angels side made up mainly of triallists and reserves players but with first-teamers Haughton, Hambley and Farley starting the match. Not sure if it is worth holding a poll but I nominate Richard Shaw for man of the match for his solid performance in defence.

Angels side:
1 Jeff Ray, 2 Darren Pearson, 16 Luke Williams, 4 Richard Shaw, 5 Mike McKeown, 6 John Farley, 7 James Burns, 8 John Sinclair, 9 Warren Haughton, 10 Tom Creasey, 11 Tim Hambley.
Substitutes:
12 Dan White, 13 Shayne Goldsmith, 14 Tom Newbury, 15 Tony Wickham, 3 Craig Fermor, 17 Derek Townsend, 18 Joe Fitzpatrick, 19 Dan Stringer, 20 Charlie Hawkes.

Pretty awful match on what was for certain the worst first-day pitch I've ever seen. Programme bemoaned the fact that no water had been available to water the pitch, greener grass could have been found in the Sahara! Defensively played OK, but no service given to Warren Haughton, who visibly showed his frustration. To be frank (and with hindsight), given that most of the first team played at Hythe and don't know why this fixture was arranged as a split first team date.

I agree, of all the players to be put in with the reserves why Haughton? Surely he needs to 'bed in' with the first-teamers more than anyone right now. A more balanced mix of players at each game would surely have made it more a worthwhile exercise.

One positive, I thought the red away strip looked really good, especially as it had the original Tonbridge crest.

My thoughts were that Warren was sent to 7 Jokes cos he needed 90 mins, and he wouldnt get 90 at Hythe.
That theory was scuppered when he was subbed after 75 !!

Yep, if anyone should be jelling in with first team at this stage of the year it's him! Shocked

What on earth happened? No way on earth should our line up have come second!

Sounds like you all had a really dire time  Sad

If it's any consolation - there weren't any burgers or tea on offer at Hythe, just some goals at  the end of a long journey....
