Whyteleafe vs Tonbridge Angels
Tuesday 7th March 2006
Ryman Division One

On Tuesday evening, the Angels travel to Surrey to take on lowly Whyteleafe at Church Road. The two sides have previously met on only a couple of occasions, both winning a game apiece by the same 2-0 margin. ‘The Leafe’ will be looking to perform the double over the Angels after second half goals from Andrew Martin and Chris Head gave them maximum points in the reverse fixture at Longmead back in November. On Saturday, the Angels visited Horsham for a top of the table clash but were unfortunate to be on the wrong end of a one-nil scoreline. Meanwhile our hosts also narrowly lost out to in-form Met Police 2-1. Our hosts currently lie down in 17th position, and boast a pretty inconsistent record at home this campaign. They’ve lost their previous two outings and have only won once in their last 8 games, that against relegation battlers Molesey. In this season’s FA Cup competition, Whyteleafe failed at the first hurdle, being dumped out by Ashford Town (Middx). They also exited The FA Trophy at the first round stage, losing to Kent outfit Folkestone Invicta. The tie finished 1-1 at Church Road before a late Invicta winner saw them scrape through 2-1. They lost to second division Dorking in this seasons Westview Cup whilst Carshalton Athletic put paid to their Surrey Senior Cup campaign.

STAR MAN – ANDREW MARTIN (Forward). A former U-21 Welsh International while at Crystal Palace, this strong and physical boasts Sutton United, AFC Wimbledon and Dulwich Hamlet as his former clubs. Currently the clubs top scorer with 8 goals this season.

Website update due tomorrow evening. After that expect no updates until early next week, as I am away in Paris next weekend. Normal service should be resumed after that. Thanks for all your patience.

Seems as though Andrew Martin won't be much of a threat tomorrow night as he's moved to Croydon Athletic. Grin

Anyone know how to get there by train out of London. www.rail.co.uk is proving very unhelpful today.  Angry
