Braintree Town 0-0 Tonbridge Angels

Tonbridge extended their unbeaten run in the Ryman Premier Division to 5 matches with a dull and fairly uninspiring game at a very quiet Cressing Lane, Braintree. With rain pelting down and a strong wind, neither side really managed to create a clear opportunity to steal all 3 points.

The first half was pretty lacklustre really with the home side dominating proceedings with a lot of possession without threatening Jamie Turner’s goal. There were, of course, half chances for the Essex outfit with defenders Billy Burgess, Ollie Adedeji and Louis Riddle all looking alert from set pieces.

The second period didn’t really improve in quality. Braintree continued to create half chances with Andy Porter nearly breaking the deadlock with a thunderbolt from 30 yards, which Angel’s shot-stopper could only tip over the bar for a corner. Tonbridge finally had their first effort on goal when Luke Piscina was put through, however, the young striker failed to get his left-footed shot on target. Neither side really looked like scoring and the game petered out with some dreadful refereeing and some not much better football.
