Tonbridge Angels 4-0 Rothwell Town
Tonbridge cruised to victory over a poor Rothwell outfit to make it maximum points from the first 3 games, and leave the visitors propping up the table.

Hamid Barr opened the scoring for the Angels with a tenth minute penalty, awarded after Richard Weale was adjudged to have ended Nick Barnes' surging run with a trip. Ray Powell extended the lead on 37 minutes, blasting past Town 'keeper Jon Hughes after a neat turn in the box. Midweek signing Lynden Rowland missed a great chance to make it a third for the Angels, shooting weakly at Hughes after being put through by Barr and Powell. Jamie Turner denied Rothwell's Micky Garside in similar circumstances just before the interval to preserve the Angels advantage, grabbing the ball off Garside's toe as he attempted to round the Angels 'keeper.

Rothwell came out positively at the start of the second half. Andy Larkin had to make a great saving tackle to deny Liam Morris, then Garside missed a golden chance to bring the Bones back into the game when he fired over with the goal gaping. Tonbridge responded to the escape by settling down to play much more fluent football. The result was put beyond doubt after 64 minutes, when Sam Tydeman's cross picked out Powell at the far post to slot past Hughes from close in. Powell and Rowland missed great chances to add to the Angels tally as Rothwell wilted.

Rowland finally marked his debut with a goal six minutes from time, clipping Barr's cross beyond Hughes, and was denied a second by an offside flag just before the end.

Ray Powell's two goals and typically committed performance earned him the man of the match award from match sponsors the Alishan Restaurant.
