Tuesday, 3 September, 2002: Suburban League.
Tonbridge Angels Res 4-1 Croydon
A shell shocked Angels first team took over this reserves fixture, and for the first half hour struggled to adjust to life in the Suburban League against a young, lively and well-organised Croydon second team.

On 14 minutes Croydon's White hooked the ball over the bar from a corner from about two feet out, and when Goulding put the away side ahead on 22 minutes it was no surprise.

But the Angels now had their range, Brendan Cass, Danny Kedwell twice and Mark Greatorex all going close in the next few minutes before on 34 minutes Cass crossed for Greatorex to equalise. Five minutes later Kedwell and Peter Overton combined to set up Cass for the second goal.

The second half started with Ryan Royston hobbling off to be replaced by Stevie Johns, but on 54 minutes Kedwell chipped the Croydon keeper for the third goal. The rest of the match was mostly Tonbridge, inspired by Ryan Briggs. Cass secured the Reserves' fourth penalty in four successive matches and converted it himself on 77 minutes.

Despite a number of efforts Cass failed to secure his hat-trick, Mannie Neville and Kedwell also missing chances as the Angels buried the ghost of Maidstone and ran out easy winners.
