Tonbridge Res 1-1 Fleet Town Res
The Reserves campaign exploded into life against a competent and committed Fleet Town in the furnace of Longmead. The young Angels were always on top but lacked the guile to convert superiority into goals. Jon Allman powered home from a corner on seven minutes, but the very next Angels corner was cleared straight to the only Fleet player upfield who was able to equalise against a hesitant Angels defence. Matt Neal netted on 21 minutes, finding that he was offside to considerable general astonishment.

For the rest, it was mostly Tonbridge, Dexley Fidyk, Neal, Allman, Lee Cooper and Tommy Newbury all going close.

The 78th minute saw a taste of things to come when Referee Marley booked Angels keeper Matt Clark for obstruction but awarded a corner. Tonbridge stepped up the pressure and Fleet stood firm. Moore was brought down by the third of three heavy challenges ignored by the referee before the implacable Simon Dunk inspired a confrontation by the dugout. Dunk and Fleet sub Charlie Mason were booked and Angels Manager Derek Moore ordered to the terraces. The inspired Angels surged forward into injury time. The tireless Neal was scythed down in the box. The sunstruck referee waited until the loose ball had been put wide before awarding a goalkick and booking Neal for the second time for the indirect freekick offence of diving. The game ended.
