Saturday, 12 April, 2003: Dr Martens League Eastern Division.
Tonbridge Angels 4-1 King's Lynn
Double strikes from Hamid Barr and Paul Emblen saw a resurgent Tonbridge home to a convincing win over the Linnets, and severely dented the visitors' outside promotion chances.

A Craig Roser shot had already been blocked on the line before Barr beat Lynn 'keeper Simon Nobes with a crisp low drive from 15 yards. Barr waltzed through a static Linnets defence to put the Angels 2-0 up with just ten minutes gone.

Chris Bacon and Richard Woodrow missed good chances for King's Lynn as the visitors regrouped, but Ray Powell's cheeky backheel found Emblen with time and space to finish unerringly beyond Nobes and extend the Angels lead. The Linnets afternoon went from bad to worse on 36 minutes, Danny Holyoak being sent off by referee Legg for abuse.

A half-time change of shirts due to a colour clash brought a change of fortune for Lynn. Lee Stevenson put a free header wide from a corner then Angels skipper Lloyd Hume misjudged a bouncing ball, allowing David Staff to run through and slot home to reduce the arrears. Staff went desperately close again with a 20-yarder just past the angle before Emblen restored the Angels cushion, sidefooting in Peter Overton's cross with 20 minutes to go to end the game as a contest - and probably the Linnets' season with it.
