Tuesday, 12 November, 2002: Dr Martens League Eastern Division.
Tonbridge Angels 1-1 Ashford Town
Ashford took just 60 seconds to take the lead at Longmead through Adrian Stone, but Steve Portway was able to grab an equaliser on 3 minutes with the Angels' first attack of the match, slotting past John Whitehouse after being put through on goal.
Tonbridge struggled to get to terms with the muddy conditions but should have done better with a first half attempt, Ryan Royston slicing a shot after some good work with Luke Piscina. Ashford's best attempt came with Dave Hassett shooting over the bar after making a good run from midfield.
Steve Portway had a shot saved in the second half before the Angels' best move of the match was still unable to give them the lead. A Peter Overton cross was flicked on by Luke Piscina but Portway's blasted shot was well saved by Whitehouse.
Piscina was then unlucky with a header going wide from Craig Roser's cross, and then Adrian Stone saw his flicked header hit the cross bar for Ashford.
Disappointing not to see the Angels pull off a good a performance as on Saturday but they dug in well in difficult conditions.
