Saturday, 9 November, 2002: Dr Martens League Eastern Division.
Histon 1-1 Tonbridge Angels
Manager Alan Walker was disappointed not to take all three points after a good performance from Tonbridge.

With Paul Emblen injured and Luke Piscina suspended, Peter Overton was used as a makeshift striker and revelled in the role. From the start Tonbridge were on top of their opponents and Overton was involved in most of their attacks. The best chance of the early minutes came after some good link-up play between Craig Roser and Overton on the left, Overton drilling a shot at goal but well saved by the goalkeeper.

Histon came back into the game but found Joe Radford in top form. With Radford caught in no-man's land striker James Rowe merely had to shoot into an empty net, but the ball was stopped by a quick one-handed save. Rowe's rebound was stopped by Radford's foot before Royston deflected a third attempt onto the post.

Two attempts to score by Steve Portway sandwiched a 41st minute shot by Histon's Tovey, his long-range effort being tipped over the bar by Radford. Joe again frustrated the Histon forwards when he got a hand to James Saddington's header just before half-time.

From the break Tonbridge should have taken the lead but Overton failed to take his chance. Radford was finally beaten on 51 minutes when Louie Farrington slid in at the far post to convert a flicked on throw-in. From then on it was all Tonbridge.

On 65 minutes Ryan Royston made a great run, slicing straight through the Histon defence, but he was unable to make the best of his shot and Barber saved comfortably. Five minutes later the equaliser finally arrived, Peter Overton finding himself through with only Barber to beat. Overton made no mistake, dummying the keeper before chipping the ball over him for 1-1.

Histon's Roscoe Hipperson, who had been lucky to still be on the pitch after two earlier challenges, was shown the red card after a two-footed challenge on Portway. Tonbridge pushed for three points until the end, Craig Roser having a shot cleared off the line and a fierce Overton volley being saved well, but in the end had to settle for the single point.
